Hey everyone,
Welcome to another dev diary, this time in a slightly new style AND format! As you can see from the spiffy banner and thumbnail, Joe has given this part an update to make it a bit better to look at (with hopefully the positive effect of more people actually reading these updates :D). We’ll split the updates into two parts: a short summary of what we’ve been working on in the last weeks, as well as a look at what is coming in the near future!

The last few weeks have been pretty weird, and lead to a slower pace (which might actually be healthy sometimes, or so I hear). That said, we’ve still managed to add quite a few new things!
Firstly, we’ve reanimated the main characters as well as the entire early bestiary of Stranglevine Ridge. They really needed an update, and we’re honestly very happy with the results!

The story of the game has been given a proper rewrite, which means we’re finally ready to implement the next chapters of the Campaign.
Joe has been hard at work on the interior tileset of the Murkfall region, and its weird laboratories are starting to look really great!

For this week, I wanted to have a closer look at the first region of the game, Stranglevine Ridge. Stranglevine features heavily in the demo, since it’s the only playable region there, meaning most players will be reasonably familiar with it.
Stranglevine Ridge is a coastal jungle region situated in the southern parts of the Wild. Inhabited by a wide variety of animals that have adapted to life in the abundant humidity of the region, the major faction of Stranglevine is the Bonefang Clan.

First introduced in the card game through the Rhino and Tiger factions, the Bonefang Clan is a collection of several animals that value the spiritual and physical in equal measure. Their practices and rituals are aimed at communicating and appeasing the Spirits of Stranglevine. The druids of their tribe, mages that have a special connection to the Spirits around them, often lead or at least guide their people as to live in balance with the surrounding nature. Balance in this case does not mean they are peaceful: many of the strongest warriors of the Wilds originate from the Bonefang. The jungle houses many dangers, both animal and environmental, and the Bonefang Clan thrives in this environment.
Spiritsong Refuge is the main town where the Bonefang Clan reside, and the home of the triumvirate that is looked upon to lead the Bonefang Clan: the unwavering druid Mo’Gara, the stoic warrior Baldur, and his reckless but equally powerful younger brother Rak’han.

Mo’Gara, familiar to those who’ve played Untamed Feral Factions, is a druid that doesn’t take no for an answer. From a young age, she was born with the gift (or curse) of sensing the whims of the Spirits around her. Equally wise as she is feared, age has only sharpened both her senses and her affinity with the Spirits.

Rak’han and Baldur, two brothers sometimes referred to as the Bite and the Bark respectively, are the most respected warriors of the Bonefang Clan. Their deep love for their Clan is what has kept them united, as the brothers are often in direct conflict with each other. Baldur is seen as loud, quick to anger but forgiving and kind, whereas Rak’han is known to be more quiet and harboring a dark rage inside. What exactly happens to this explosive duo, is something to find out in the upcoming Chapters of the Campaign, as players will have the chance to play as Baldur.
