Fear of the unknown and psychological horror in The Awakened

The Awakened takes place just a few years after the events of our 2021 release, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. Holmes and Watson are not yet the inseparable investigative duo but rather just roommates, renting a flat at 221B Baker Street. Together they undertake to investigate what seems like a simple missing person’s case but soon unravels to being something more sinister and beyond comprehension.

The most fascinating thing about The Awakened, is how it unites two seemingly opposite concepts: the rationality of Conan Doyle’s novels and Lovecraft’s “incomprehensible” approach to horror. Sherlock is up against an entity so unfathomable that it makes him truly afraid and question everything he knows and stands for.

This is our creative take on what series of truly horror-filled events could have met our heroes at this point in their lives and go on to shape them into the people we all know they are to become. The trauma and fear that cements their friendship for good. The revelations that break Sherlock’s mind to create the flawed and haunted genius he is destined to be. And the outcomes of a case that make both forever question the reality of the world and the purpose of existing.

This is a maddening discovery, one that Dr Watson will never publish for the sake of mankind and for the sake of his friend.
