We have some pretty big news to announce today - We have decided to keep Patch Quest in Early Access for one more update.
What Does This Mean?
We’ll still be releasing the new update on October 13th. Originally, we were planning to leave Early Access at this point. But instead, we're going to stay in Early Access until the following update releases (expected in February sometime).
Why Stay In Early Access?
There's actually a few good reasons:
- The game's final boss was going to be released in the post-launch update (in February), with a placeholder ending coming in this update. But a lot of people, both within the community and outside it, have said this is a bit weird. Normally a game would contain the full story when it launches.
- The game was recently translated into 10 languages, and those translations will arrive in the October update. So by keeping the game in Early Access a bit longer, we can start trying to market the game in multiple languages. And this hopefully will lead to a stronger launch.
- This frees up some more time for polishing and balancing. We want to make sure Patch Quest is in the best possible place when we start sending it out to content creators and reviewers, and a little bit of final polish can go a long way.
So What Happens Now?
In the grand scheme of things, not a lot changes. We are still releasing the October update and winter update, we are just delaying the point of official launch.
But it does mean we can move on from bug fixing now, and finally begin work on the Big Boss update. In fact, we’ll be starting immediately. So be sure to keep an eye out for our devlogs here and on Discord over the coming days and weeks.
