The Tipping the Scales DLC is arriving on April 7. Today, we'd like give everyone a sneak peak at the new gear coming. The Design team shares some of our thoughts that went into the development of each.

Hand Gatling

The inception of the Hand Gatling started with a conversation about its secondary ability. There was an idea about how to allow a player to generate on the spot zone control by placing something on the ground, which became caltrops. When discussing what weapon this should attach to, design naturally gravitated towards a very fast firing weapon in order to counter the Tuatara’s racial ability that caps incoming damage.

Reptilian Carapace

Players have never really had a tool to defend against archers which has always caused us to limit their use within the game. With the new Tuatara Ranger, which Design wanted to utilize more than we have with other archers in the past, we thought a projectile shield to counter them would be a fun inclusion into the game.

Briar Patch

Most of the traps in OMD games have always been more mechanical in nature. The Briar Patch is an effort to create another more organic trap. Design liked the idea of a trap that could generate additional traps by spreading naturally throughout the map. The value of this trap naturally scales with the amount of enemies the player encounters, making it a more efficient trap in war scenarios, and even more efficient in endless.

Deathtrap: Orcs All the Way DownHello, you little Ogre spudge stains, Kyle here again – Game Director on Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap. This time I’ll be going over every single enemy in OMDD except our big boss boys (and even there, I’ll leave a teaser or two). I’m excited about this one – not only do we have a lot of new enemies, but we’ve also reworked some veteran units to make battles more fun, interactive, and focused. Let’s…Esports24 Sep 2024Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap - New and Reworked TrapsHey Floor Spike Spammers, Kyle here again – Game Director on Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap. It's time to talk about traps. There is A LOT to cover on that topic because as the name implies: traps are more important than ever. But I decided to skip the basics and just jump straight into the fun stuff. Let’s go over some reworked traps and then, of course, the new ones we’ve added to Deathtrap. Rework…
