Hello guys,
Sunset Mall has been given a whole new look, there are tons of features that have been added and here are a few:
Discord Integration
The Discord Integration has been updated yet again and has brought with it so many cool things, for example now you can see Discord Friends in game as NPC's, this can be enabled or disabled in the main menu!
Sunset Mall - Mobile
Sunset Mall - Mobile has been updated with some bug fixes!
The old bug where Discord would not always initialise has been fixed also!
New Achievements
The game now has 20+ more achievements than before, some are easy, some are hard. and some are just near impossible...
Steam Store Page Update
You may have noticed by now, but the Steam Store Page and Steam Library areas for Sunset Mall have been completely re-worked and now look a lot better. let me know what you think of em!
Store Interiors
Now while this is basic for now, it's going to get a lot better over the coming weeks, for now stores have random decorations that spawn behind the counter to make them look more like an actual place. right now the decorations are limited but I have a lot planned to make each store very unique!
Texture Detailing and more!
Each Texture in the game now has more detail as well as utilising normal maps to make things look more 3D, you will notice this immediately when loading into the mall. there are new textures that have been added too so be on the look out for them. the carpet is my favourite.
New Decorations
Around the mall there are new decorations, these decorations have new spawn systems also so they may spawn on an angle or with different styles!
UI Fixes
This is a big one, there have been so many UI errors as well as just bad UI in general, these should now be all fixed but will be overhauled again come the final renovation update!
The icky 5 second pop-up box has been fixed so that it won't just go off screen randomly when speaking to people. the tutorial has also been moved to the menu, this is to help people read the text before it disappears and also to clear up the UI in the game.
The Main Menu UI has also been fixed, there is a lot more to do there now and I will get into that later, but for now ill mention that the way the UI is set up has been fixed and is now much more performant and just looks better.
Mall Kiosk Fix
In update one, the Mall Kiosk was introduced, you can go here to find information and tips about the game that will help you on your mall adventure, the problem was that they would spawn anywhere and there might be up to 10 in one mall, this wasn't good so they have now been limited to only one per mall!
Obstacle Fixes
The obstacles you could find around the mall have been fixed.
for example the wet floor obstacle had 4 signs, aside from it being stupid to have 4 signs marking only one puddle, these signs also clipped into other objects so now there is only one sign.
New Currencies
You can now earn Shopping Bags from escaping the mall, these bags will have random items in that you can use to upgrade and customise your character and their vehicles, you can't buy these bags with real money but can instead buy them for in game money Sunset Dollars, you can only earn Sunset Dollars from from time spent in the mall.
Sunset Dollars can be used to purchase a variety of things to use in the mall, they can also be used to buy Shopping Bags.
Mall Tokens can be used to upgrade and customise your character
Mechanic Tokens can be used to upgrade and customise your vehicles
Your Place
Your very own place that you can customise with things from around the mall, or entirely new things you can purchase through the catalogue. View collections, decorations and more at your place!
As of this update, you have only just moved in so you can't explore it just yet. just be patient!
Reflections Overhaul
The reflections that were added in the last update have been tweaked so that they are more performant and so that they look better, this hopefully will make the game a lot more enjoyable.
Bye Bye Boosting...
It was clear that boosting was not loved by many, myself included at times. so it has bid us adieu. you can all go back to strafing around the mall but you can also go to the vending machine for some Sunset Cola, and get double speed for a short while!
New Easter eggs, and old Easter eggs have been updated!
Some of the old Easter eggs in the game where not the most elegant so they have been updated to much better versions. with this, more Easter eggs have been added and I hope you guys can find em!

Lighting...
The mall needs to save money on electricity, the ambient lighting of the mall has been reduced so it is gonna be a touch darker from now on. Bills got to be paid!
There may or may not also be a spinny light...
Sunset Cola
Sunset Cola has now become the leading drink of the world, you can find it in every vending machine you see, left clicking will drink the cola, giving you double speed for a short amount of time. right clicking will allow you to spray other shoppers, this will temporarily stop them as they clean themselves off. this can be used on all shoppers in the mall but *try* to use it on muggers...
Multiplayer
Ah yes, the long awaited multiplayer...
It's in Beta right now but don't fear, it will be out for all soon enough!
Once you get access you can invite friends or join friends in malls, simply go to the area on the menu, name your mall and then hit the host button, a code will be generated for your mall!
your friends can join either through steam invites using a button in game, or they can join using that new code you got :)
In regards to actual Multiplayer, here is a small summary:
Multiplayer Modes
Communal Mall - All players can visit this "single-shard" mall, single shard means all players playing the game on this mode will be in the same server, depending on the numbers you could be in here with thousands of other players!
Casual Mall Visit - You can see and interact with players, but when buying an item it will only disappear for you.
Competitive Mall Visit - Like casual, except items that are bought disappear for everyone, not just you!
Battle Royale - Yes its overused but hush! Play with up to 50 other players, try to get all your items before the mall closes down, the mall will close areas off at a time and you will be trapped if you don't escape the area in time. items are limited, you will lose if none of your items are left, other players can slow you down with soda. ATM's are first come first served.
Character Customisation
you can now customise your own character, this character will be your virtual self both in single player malls and multiplayer malls too!
you can now customise your:
- Skin color
- Hair color
- Shirt color
- Pants color
- Shoes color
TLDR
the mall got a huge boost in funding from all the new shoppers, thanks to you the mall now has seen some major renovations both inside and out.
