Hi, again! We haven't spoken too much about development recently, so we just wanted to answer some questions about what's been happening, and where we’re at on the road to getting Wayward Strand into your Steam library.
Our current plan is to release in the second half of 2021 - while there are some elements of that plan to fall into place, we feel that we’re in a good spot to finish out Wayward Strand and actually get it into your hands!
For most of this year we’ve been working on Wayward Strand part-time, or in between other work - progress has been slower than we had previously projected, but things have still been moving forward. In particular, the dialogue has come a long way since the start of the year, primarily thanks to our writer Georgia Symons.
Many of our scenes were initially planned out back in 2016, and seeing these scenes in particular get to the point where their dialogue is written and staging is laid out has been really special.
We’ve also spent a lot of this year showing Wayward Strand at virtual events and getting people to play our demo, which includes a section of the first day. We showcased at LudoNarracon 2020, the Steam Summer Festival and Yogscast’s Tiny Teams Festival, and were also featured in the Wholesome Direct Showcase. Getting into live-streaming Wayward Strand and sharing our development process was a big change for us, but we’ve enjoyed it, and it’s been wonderful to discover how many people are interested in this strange and beautiful experience.
If you missed these events while they were happening, you can catch up on recordings of our live-streams for LudoNarraCon on our Youtube page (there’s literally hours of us talking Wayward on there!) And if you’re keen to chat with us and the rest of the community, come join the Wayward Strand Discord.

Finally, I wanted to mention that there have been some exciting (and rather time-consuming) elements of our plan to complete and release Wayward Strand that have come together over the past few months - there’s not much we can mention specifically here, except to say that we’ll have some exciting news as we get closer to launch about where Wayward Strand will be popping up.
But for now, we’ll just keep tinkering away on this thing, and we’ll let you know every now and then how it’s going. This project has been a longer-than-expected labour of love, and it can sometimes be surprising to think that we are all still excited about continuing to work on it, five years in. But we are, and we really look forward to the day when you can play Wayward Strand for yourself, and see all that we’ve put into it.
We hope you stay safe, and stay well, and that you get to spend some time (virtually, if necessary) with friends and loved ones throughout the holidays.
