With your feedback, we identified issues affecting core gameplay. Here's the breakdown of what we fixed.
NEW: Voice chat. Talk to the other players in the lobby and during a match. It is open mic, so there is no key to hold.
Voices come from each player's seat, so someone across the table sounds further away than the player beside you.
Characters move their mouths while their player is speaking. - A speaker icon shows who is talking: beside their name in the lobby, above their head in a match, and in the corner of your own screen while your microphone is live.
Voice chat volume and microphone sensitivity are both in settings, and apply immediately. Voice defaults to 400 percent because the engine's own voice playback is very quiet, and the slider goes up to 600.
Microphone sensitivity controls how easily your mic opens. Raise it if the starts and ends of your words are being cut off, lower it if your keyboard is being transmitted.
The game uses your Windows default communications device as its microphone. The MICROPHONE row in settings opens the Windows sound panel where that is chosen.
Fixed: facial expressions were not playing at all in the packaged game. Terror when someone aims at you, the shock of electrocution, the drink reaction, the underwater scream and the talking mouth were all silently doing nothing outside the editor. Faces now animate as intended.
Skin painting accuracy overhaul. Paint now lands exactly under the brush, everywhere on the character.
Corners and curves work properly. Strokes now follow the surface around the nose, jaw, chin and fingers instead of tearing or breaking up.
Paint can no longer jump across gaps. Painting the temple no longer marks the ear, and painting one fingernail no longer marks another.
Painting on clothing is fixed. Brush stamps are round and land where you click instead of scattering into patches.
The brush cursor now shows the exact area that will be painted, angled to the surface you are pointing at.
Face paint resolution has been doubled for fine work such as eyeliner and small tattoos, and the smallest brush size is now much finer.
Strokes are smoothed as you drag, and the character holds still while the PAINT tab is open.
Fixed: paint appeared offset from the cursor on sculpted and heavier characters. Paint now sits on the body you actually see.
NEW: The Overseer. He breathes, greets you when you open the perk shop, chuckles, mutters to himself between events, and grumbles when you cannot afford a perk. All of it comes from his face, so it fades with distance like every other sound in the room.
His mouth now moves in time with his greeting when the perk shop opens.
The Make Everyone Fat perk beam now plays the beam sound, the same as the vial refill beam.
The shark now has its own sound as it erupts from his mouth.
Wheel of Fate: the Underwater Minigame and Shoot Another Player now come up considerably more often. Each lands on roughly one spin in eight, so between them they take about a quarter of all spins.
Flood events: the shark now always appears.
After the shark takes a player, the arrow minigame now waits 5 seconds before resuming so you can see which arrow is next.
Spectating another player during the underwater minigame now shows when they miss an arrow.
Wheel of Fate, Shoot Another Player: the gun is now handed to you after the camera returns to your view plus a short pause, instead of arriving during the cutaway.
Vial liquid is now visible from underneath while you drink.
Electrocution now strikes the victim with real lightning bolts instead of the previous effect.
The winner celebration animation has been temporarily replaced with a neutral pose while it is reworked.
NEW: Streamer Mode. Hides player names, showing PLAYER 1, PLAYER 2 and FRIEND 1 instead, so viewers cannot use names shown on stream to find your lobby.
You are asked once on first launch whether you want it on, and it can be changed in settings at any time.
All sounds now pause when you pause the game. Music, room tone, the gramophone and every effect stop with the world and resume where they left off.
Fixed: step 3 could repeat the round banner and ratio wheel over and over without continuing.
The round ratio wheel now sits lower on screen so it no longer hides behind the tutorial instructions.
The SELECTED VIAL marker now points at the vial that is actually brought to you. - The pigman now stands beside you for the Russian roulette step instead of firing from across the room.
Voice chat has no mute or push to talk option yet, so treat the lobby as an open room.
A machine with no microphone at all will not hear other players either. Any connected microphone fixes this, even if you do not speak into it.
The microphone cannot be chosen inside the game yet. It follows your Windows default communications device, and changing it needs a restart of the game.
That's all for Update 2. Thanks for stepping into the chamber and helping us sharpen every system. The Overseer is watching, and more improvements are coming. Please keep sharing your reports with us!
