RUNECAST's demo gets a new look — enter the Web Queen's lair

major update

Runecast · published

The rune chooses. You command.

The RUNECAST demo has a new look. We have reworked its animations, interface, and battle feedback, with fixes inspired by players' reports. If you tried an earlier version, now is a good time to return.

Enter the Queen's lair

She descends on a thread, spins a cocoon, and calls her brood. The young spiders charge your team while the cocoon shields their mother. The Web Queen encounter has a reworked sequence in the battle scene itself, with a presentation that matches the new interface's blue identity.

Combat is automatic. The strategy is yours.

Cast runes to summon heroes. Combine three of a kind, choose their promotion, and prepare your formation between waves. Redistribute stones among your runes in the Forge, visit the merchant's tent to strengthen your team, and explore hero bonds. Each preparation changes the next fight.

Improvements you can feel during a run

  • More precise equipment targeting: drag an item onto a compatible hero or slot. An invalid target leaves it in your inventory.

  • Removing a hero returns their equipment. If the inventory is full, removal is blocked to preserve the items.

  • Losing lives has its own battle result, showing damage taken and lives remaining.

  • Returning to the title screen and continuing your run has been fixed.

  • New pixel art for hero selection, equipment, and dialogue; revised text, buttons, and settings.

15 waves. What will your formation be?

  • All ten waves of Act 1, ending at the Witch.

  • Act 2 through wave five, including the Web Queen.

  • Easy difficulty, four starting heroes, eight first-promotion paths, and eight equipment items.

  • Interface in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Russian.

T2 promotions, later acts, and higher difficulties are reserved for the full game.

The festival runs from October 19 to 26. You can play the demo before it begins: try it, assemble your team, and tell us in the comments how far you got. Found an issue? Please include the act and wave; a screenshot helps a lot.Play the free demo
