Hunter and Agility are the 22nd and 23rd skills, and they complete the skill roster. From here the game grows deeper inside the skills you already train, and gives me time to go back and polish some of the art in the game I am not satisfied with.
Pick a creature and every input (keyboard, mouse or controller) is a catch attempt. A catch pays that creature's XP and its loot. A miss pays nothing.
Catch chance is 65% at the creature's level, rising 0.6% per level above it, up to 95%.
Each creature is caught its own way, and you need that trap in your bank:
Snare, level 1 to 19: crimson swift, golden warbler, copper longtail, cerulean wagtail, tropical shrike. Feathers and raw bird meat.
Deadfall, level 15 to 51: grey, spiked and tusked burrowers. Fur, sometimes dark fur, and bone spikes from the spiked and tusked ones.
Clickling net, level 17 to 89: eight clicklings, each carrying a loot bag of runes, ores, logs, herbs, seeds, feathers and shafts. The rarer clicklings carry gems, rune bars, magic seeds and, from the lucky clickling, a very rare onyx. A netted clickling takes a second to come back.
Net and rope, level 30 to 80: swamp, orange, red, black and cobalt salamanders. Each catch is a live salamander weapon.
Pitfall, level 31 to 72: veld-lynx, ridge-prowler, sabre-cat, steppe antelope and royal antelope. Three new hides and antlers.
Falconry, level 43 and 57: spotted and dark burrowers, with a falcon on your glove.
Box trap, level 53 to 63: grey, red and black pufftails.
Tracking, level 80: the root hog digs up unidentified herbs. No trap needed.
Traps are sold in a new Hunter section of the shop (500 to 150,000 gold) and made with Crafting (level 1 to 80). A trap breaks about once every 6,000 catches. The falconer's glove never breaks.
Raw bird meat cooks, or dries into sinew for crossbow strings. Birds are the only source of crossbow strings.
Agility is your fitness. Every input is a rep, and a coach counts reps into circuits. Each finished circuit pays XP and may drop a Grace token.
Eight coaches: Village Drillmaster (1), Militia Sergeant (10), Harbor Strongman (20), Legion Taskmaster (30), Gladiator Trainer (45), Royal Guard Captain (60), Master-at-Arms (75), Grandmaster Champion (90).
Your character works through leg lifts, squats, half burpees, high jumps, backflips and frontflips as the coaches unlock them.
The Champion's Trials, from level 52: five trials at 52, 62, 72, 82 and 92. Each circuit pays a gold purse (135 up to 1,560) and a better Grace chance, for a little less XP than a coach.
Grace buys five perks, four steps each (120, 480, 840 and 1,260 Grace per step):
Light Feet: the Thieving stun when caught, 3 seconds down to 1.2.
Second Wind: the wait after a death, 15 seconds down to 7.
Sharp Eyes: a missed gather still rolls the rare table, up to every miss.
Careful Hands: a finished craft keeps all its materials, up to 35% of the time.
Hot Pursuit: the next enemy appears sooner after a kill, 2.5 seconds down to 1.3.
With all five perks maxed, the trial marshal buys Grace for 2,000 gold each.
A new Spellcraft entry in the skill row trains Magic away from combat, from level 7.
Enchant spells for every gem, level 7 to 87 (topaz, jade, sapphire, emerald, ruby, diamond, onyx). They charm jewellery and gem-tipped bolts.
Charmed jewellery keeps its look with a gem shimmer and gives more XP and rare find in every skill. The charmed onyx bracelet gives +15% XP and +45% rare find.
Low Alchemy (21) turns an item into its sell value in gold. High Alchemy (55) pays 1.5 times.
Superheat Ore (43) smelts the bar you pick without a furnace, and you get the Smithing XP too.
Bones to Bananas (15) and Bones to Peaches (60). Peaches bake into a peach cobbler.
Six crossbows, bronze to rune, fletched from bars, a log and a crossbow string (Fletching 1 to 85). A crossbow is one-handed, so the ranged loadout gets an off-hand slot.
Bolts: bronze to rune (Smithing tips, Fletching bolts, no shafts needed), and bone bolts from bone spikes (Fletching 32). 80% of fired bolts come back when the enemy dies.
Gem bolts: topaz, jade, sapphire, emerald, ruby, diamond and onyx tips (Fletching 45 to 88).
Five enchanted bolts, each with a chance per shot: topaz hits 10% harder, emerald poisons, ruby takes a chunk of the enemy's remaining health, diamond ignores armour, onyx hits harder and heals you. They only fire from a crossbow.
A crossbow fires bolts only and a bow fires arrows only, with clear messages when the quiver is wrong.
Seven bucklers, one per leather and hide tier (Crafting 4 to 79).
Caught with Hunter. Swamp, orange, red, black and cobalt, wielded at 30, 50, 60, 70 and 80 Attack, Ranged and Magic.
A salamander fights in whichever loadout you equip it in: melee, ranged or magic. It uses no runes or arrows.
It spits tar instead. Every loadout has a new tar slot. Tar is brewed with Herblore (level 25 to 76, 15 tar per herb), and better tar adds up to 8% damage.
Three hide tiers above dragonhide, from the Hunter pitfall hides: veldhide (Crafting 60 to 65), prowlerhide (67 to 72) and sabrehide (75 to 80).
Worn at 50, 60 and 70 Defence and Ranged. Each has a helmet, chaps, body and buckler.
Mill wheat into flour, then mix bread dough or pastry dough.
New dishes: bread, cooked meat, cooked chicken, cooked bird meat, meat pie (20), fish pie (47), admiral pie (70) and peach cobbler (85). The pies and the cobbler give buffs.
Chickens and cows now always drop their meat.
Recipes that now take cooked ingredients: stew (cooked meat and a potato), curry (stew and curry leaves), garden feast (cooked chicken), and the pies and flatbreads (dough).
A burnt dish now comes out as Burnt Food. Burned Fish is only for fish.
Watermelon slices and fruit baskets can no longer burn.
Wheat grows in the allotments from Farming 3 seeds. Wheat seeds come from Identify Seeds, and 5 wheat make compost.
Two new rocks: limestone from Mining 10 and granite from Mining 45. Crafting chisels them into limestone bricks (12) and granite blocks (50).
Six new stone pieces for your Holding: decorative rock (5), imp statue (15), stone fireplace (33), granite fireplace (63), granite fountain (71) and opulent table (85).
The restoration springs and gilded altars now also take 20 to 60 limestone bricks or granite blocks.
A finished Construction piece stays built on screen until your next input.
Crafting: all the traps, the bucklers, the new hide armour, crossbow strings, and fur for the plain leather pieces.
Gloves of Silence (Crafting 46, from dark fur): a utility item that makes you 5 points less likely to be caught thieving.
Smithing: bolt tips for every metal. Fletching: crossbows, bolts, bone bolts and gem tips.
Herblore: salamander tar. Prayer: antlers now also come from Hunter.
Each PC now holds up to three characters, in the new Characters tab in Settings. Switch between them without closing the game.
Character 1 is your existing character. It is the one on the leaderboards, with Steam achievements and Steam Cloud.
Characters 2 and 3 are sandbox characters. They start from scratch, stay on the PC where you made them, and never touch the leaderboards or achievements.
Each card shows total level, combat level, gold, time played and when you last played.
Deleting a sandbox character needs a tick first, and the files go to the Recycle Bin.
If your save can't be read (for example, locked by antivirus), the game no longer starts a new character over it. A recovery screen explains what happened, keeps a rescue copy, and lets you try again, load the backup or quit.
If the main save is damaged and the backup is good, the backup loads and repairs the main file on its own.
A failed save (for example, a full disk) can no longer wipe both the save and its backup, and the game now tells you when a save fails.
Quit Game in Settings now saves before it closes.
Settings, Feedback tab: choose Bug or Idea and write up to 2,000 characters. It goes straight to me.
It sends your Steam ID, game version, save version, language, total level, and whether mods or a sandbox character are in use. Nothing is sent until you press Send.
Settings is split into tabs: General, Characters, Leaderboards, Feedback, Mods and About.
One Animation speed slider (50 to 150%) replaces Action Speed and Prop Speed and covers every animation.
The Equipment panel has an "Eat below" slider for auto-eat, right under the food slot.
Checkboxes now show a clear box and tick.
The Leaderboards panel is two columns, with every board as a grouped button beside the rankings.
The Guide opens like a book, with contents on the left and the chapter on the right. It is rewritten throughout as advice from a fellow adventurer.
The skill row is three columns of seven.
Hover text wraps in a tooltip instead of being cut off.
Slayer gear and broadhead tips are now sold from the Slayer panel instead of the general shop.
With XP-changing mods enabled, Character 1 now warns you before its leaderboard uploads are paused, with the choice to play anyway, switch character or turn the mods off.
Rare drops now sell for what they take to find. A dragon chestplate sells for 15.8M, a raw onyx 7.1M, a dragon sword 4.4M, each black armour piece 2.7M. Slayer uniques, granite gear, mystic robes, the rare tools and Old Mossback all rose too.
Most crafted items now sell for at least what their materials are worth.
Shop prices raised: rune bar 1,240, adamant bar 615, elder logs 695, magic logs 310.
New shop stock: the Hunter traps, limestone, limestone bricks and granite blocks.
The gold leaderboard now counts every coin you earn: combat drops, Thieving, alchemy, Trials purses and Grace sales, not only shop sales. On first load your total is raised to at least the gold you hold plus what you have spent, so expect it to jump.
Selling a rare piece of gear now counts toward items sold.
Five new achievements: Hunter Cape, Agility Cape, Soft Landing, Truffle Nose and Training Partner.
Completionist now needs total level 2,277. Beast Master now needs 14 pets. Well-Rounded now includes Hunter and Agility.
Two new leaderboards, Hunter and Agility, for 26 in all.
Three new pets: the baby pufftail (hunting pufftails), the root-hog piglet (tracking the root hog) and the giant squirrel (the Champion's Trials).
The collection log has over a hundred new entries.
Bank stacks, prices and the XP bar no longer round up. 49,966 coal reads 49.9k, not 50.0k. (Thanks Mr. Vorx for the report)
A new character starts at full health and full prayer instead of 100 of 20 HP.
Putting on a piece of jewellery for the first time no longer freezes the game for a moment.
Controller buttons only work RuneClick's menus while your cursor is over the game.
Spinning a bowstring uses its own pose instead of the last thing you crafted.
Your save upgrades on first load. Hunter and Agility start at level 1, and nothing else moves.
All new text is translated into the 8 other languages. In Korean, Slayer is now 토벌 so it no longer shares a word with Hunter.
The license agreement is updated for the feedback feature.
