The playtest is back — controller, character reactions, languages

major update

Voodoo Crawler Playtest · published · build 25457296

The playtest just got its first update in a good while — and it's a big jump. The whole game is now playable on a controller, from the menu to the inventory, the characters have started reacting to what happens on screen, and the interface speaks Polish and English. Plus hundreds of smaller fixes and a lot of filled-in content.

Controller support

The entire game works on a gamepad: main menu, dialogue, inventory, character sheet, map and quest log. Shoulder buttons switch characters, and on-screen prompts tell you what each button does — no guesswork, no reaching for the mouse mid-fight.

The party started reacting

Your companions are no longer silent between conversations. They react to damage, to items you pick up, to the places you walk into, and to each other. The portraits come alive when there is a reason to — a comment lands because of something you just did, not because a timer ran out.

Languages

Polish and English are complete, from menus through dialogue to item and quest descriptions. Chinese is being finished and will land in a following update.

And everything else

There is a lot of it: saving and loading, how the party behaves after a character dies, audio settings that finally control the volume for real, a loading screen that rebuilds itself properly after a language switch, and a great many filled-in lines and texts. Individually small — together they change how the game feels.

What's next

The next posts will be dedicated ones: controller support on its own, the reaction system on its own. For now what matters most is getting this version into your hands — if something behaves oddly, post it in the discussions. That is what a playtest is for.
