The second major update for 86 is available now! To celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the release of 86, we've put together some new features to help you find whatever you're looking for, as well as rewarding you for seeing everything there is to see. Read on to get more info on what's been added!

Not sure where you've been, or where to go next? Remember learning what a certain tile did but it's been a while and you've forgotten? Well look no further, the new map system's got you covered!
You can access the map with a new option in the Statistics menu. The map will show you all of the rooms you've ever visited, as well as a marker showing you where you last died. If you haven't beaten the game, you'll also see a marker suggesting which room you should visit next. This marker will always be connected to a room you've already visited, so just make your way back to that room and solve the puzzle there to proceed.
But that's not all; if you press the Sprint button while on the map (left shift on keyboard, Y on controller by default), you'll also see a bunch of extra markers for various puzzle elements, such as tiles and rocks. These denote a room that will teach you how that particular element works. So if you've visited the room that teaches you how purple-wizard-hat tiles work and need a reminder, just head towards its symbol on the map!
Note: the whole map might not fit on your screen if you're using a UI scale higher than the recommended for your screen size; if anything important is missing, try turning down the UI scale and/or playing in a larger resolution.
As a thanks to the elite few that have fully completed the game, there are a few bonus features that you can activate after finishing everything the game has to offer. As mentioned in our previous news post, the trigger to activate these features is equivalent to getting the following four achievements:
- You're Winner
- Sonic Sluggle
- Explorer
- Now you don't
Once you've done that, you can press the direction buttons after dying to explore other rooms of the map. For the most part, this is just a fun extra if you're curious how certain rooms fit together, but you can also use it to plan your route if you want to revisit some of your favourite rooms.
You can also start the game from any room using this feature. If you hold the Shift button when you start the game from the main menu, Sluggle will appear in the middle of the room the camera was on at the time. Note that you can't use this feature to record a faster completion time; times will only be recorded if you start from the middle room. Also note that some rooms might be impossible to solve if approached from the wrong direction, and you might get stuck in a wall if there's obstacles in the centre of the room!
- Fixed a puzzle element that was pointing the wrong way in one of the mid-game rooms. (This doesn't impact the solution, but stops it floating mid-air.)
As with the 1.1 update, we've added a couple of new lines of text. So if you've made a custom translation, you might want to update it with the new phrases; check Text.mbt file in the game folder for the updated XML.

And finally, 86 is on its biggest ever sale until the weekend! Until Monday, the game is 40% off - the perfect time to grab it if you've had it sitting on your wishlist for a while.
Thanks to everyone that's played 86 in the last year - we hope you enjoy the new update, and feel free to let us know what you think or ask any questions in the comments below! If you want to see what else we're up to, be sure to check out our blog.
