Hotpatch 0.17.13 - Hostile AI, Hunting, and Hay Beds

Wanderers' Outpost · published

Hotpatch 0.17.13 is now available. This update focuses on fixing combat stalls, reducing simulation spikes during hostile incidents, and adding a few quality-of-life improvements.

Hostile and Wildlife Fixes

  • Fixed hostiles repeatedly targeting the same unreachable pawn instead of selecting another valid target.

  • Fixed hostiles and wildlife sometimes stopping after a single movement step, particularly when chasing targets near the edge of the map.

  • Added a failsafe for hostiles that cannot move, attack, or break through an obstacle. If they remain stuck for too long, they'll retreat instead of leaving the incident permanently active.

  • Fixed a major simulation spike caused by temperature-aware pathfinding repeatedly recalculating terrain movement costs during hostile activity.

Hunting Improvements

  • The Hunt button on selected wildlife now correctly creates a hunting request.

  • Hunt requests now show whether a Hunter has been assigned or explain why the request could not be completed.

  • Hovering over the Hunt button now pauses the game, making it easier to issue hunting orders.

Hay Beds

  • Added the new Hay Bed, crafted with 4 Wood and 4 Grass.

  • Hay Beds can be used by workers, guests, and guild members.

  • Hay Beds count toward the four-bed guest room onboarding requirement and fully support lodging reservations and fees.

  • Archivist guidance now explains that Inn Beds and Hay Beds can be mixed within the same guest room.

Interface Updates

  • Expanded the Pawn roster into a near full-screen layout.

  • Workers, Guests, Guild Members, and Hostiles are now displayed in separate scrollable columns.

  • Hovering over the Hire, Invite, Assign, and Hunt buttons temporarily pauses the simulation, then restores the previous game speed afterward.

  • Removed the unused Battle button from selected hostile pawns.

  • Quantity and calendar input fields no longer accept alphabetic characters.

Thanks to everyone who reported these issues and shared profiler captures. They made the hostile pathfinding problems much easier to track down. If you encounter any more stuck pawns or combatants, please continue sending save files and reproduction steps—they're a huge help.
