Inside the Forest is no longer the same game.
Over time, we kept returning to one question: what was the most interesting part of Inside the Forest?
Was it the action?
The mechanics?
Or was it simply being there?
Walking through the forest. Watching the light change between the trees. Hearing the environment around you. Discovering something unexpected. Meeting someone without knowing exactly where that encounter might lead.
Eventually, the answer became clear.
The forest itself was always the heart of the experience.
So we decided to rebuild the game around it.
Inside the Forest is now a Visual Novel, with a much stronger focus on narrative, characters, atmosphere and exploration.
This doesn't mean turning the game into an endless sequence of dialogue boxes.
Quite the opposite.
We want Inside the Forest to feel like a place you enter.
The new direction is designed around a more sensory experience, where images, sound, music, voices, environmental moments and character encounters work together to tell the story.
Instead of constantly asking you to fight, react or master action mechanics, the game gives you more time to look, listen, explore and discover.
Sometimes something happens.
Sometimes someone appears.
Sometimes the forest simply exists around you.
And sometimes what you find depends on where you decided to go.
The previous version of Inside the Forest was built much more like a conventional game.
The new version deliberately moves away from that approach.
We aren't trying to make the action faster.
We're removing the need for action to be the center of the experience.
The goal now is immersion.
We want the quiet moments to matter.
A path through the trees.
A distant sound.
A character waiting somewhere in the forest.
A conversation.
A strange discovery.
A beautiful place that exists simply because we wanted you to see it.
Not everything needs to become a combat encounter, a puzzle or another task on a checklist.
Sometimes curiosity is enough.
The new format also gives us much more freedom to expand the world.
Characters can have longer encounters and more developed stories. Locations can exist for narrative reasons rather than gameplay requirements. New scenes can explore different moods, situations and perspectives without needing to fit inside an action-game structure.
The result is something closer to an interactive journey through a living illustrated world.
You still move through the experience.
You still make discoveries.
You still decide what deserves your attention.
But the rhythm is different.
Slower when it needs to be.
Stranger when it wants to be.
More intimate when the story calls for it.
Because sometimes a project tells you what it wants to become.
Trying to preserve an old design simply because it already exists can eventually become more limiting than rebuilding it.
Inside the Forest had an atmosphere we liked, but its original gameplay wasn't always taking advantage of it.
The Visual Novel format gives us a chance to concentrate on what makes this world interesting: its environments, its characters, its imagery and the feeling of discovering something hidden inside the forest.
This is not simply a new mode added to the old game.
It represents a new direction for Inside the Forest.
If you played Inside the Forest before, expect something different.
If you're discovering it for the first time, this is the experience we want the game to be from now on.
There are still paths to follow.
There are still people to meet.
There are still things hiding between the trees.
But now we're giving the forest something it always needed:
time to breathe.
Welcome back.
And take your time.
There's no need to run.
