VoltAge:Genesis Version 10.1 Update Notes
NOTE: Players who previously completed the demo and chose to return to the mainland will be able to return to the point where the demo left off by speaking to the man next to the bus stop in Pedregal Springs.
Changes to Existing Areas
- Tierra’s Pillar (Exterior)
--- Moved the skeleton in the southwestern area of the swamp closer to the water.
- Trabunco Mt. Caves (Temple)
--- Enemy encounters no longer occur inside this area.
Changes to Playable Characters
- All playable characters’ immunity to element damage has been removed, consistent with the Version 10.0 changes to elemental damage for enemies.
--- All playable characters now take standard (100%) damage from elemental attacks.
--- For more information about these changes, refer to “Changes to Enemies”, below.
Changes to Enemies
- Tweaked Escuri the Endless’ Elemental Weaknesses
--- Escuri’s primary weakness (no spoilers!) has been increased from 200% to 300%.
- Tweaked ???’s stats for the battle which occurs inside Sollcasteros
--- ???’s base Hit Rate has been reduced from 95% to 50%, making their “Sweep” ability much less likely to shred the entire party’s HP in the opening round of combat. This tweak was made for game balance & consistency with the actual stat penalties imposed by the weapon they are using.
- The “Flashbang” enemy skill has been updated to be consistent with the effects of the consumable item of the same name.
--- In addition to their previous 25% chance to cause Blind/Headache/Knock Down, enemy flashbangs now also deal a base damage of 500 element damage, with a 20% damage variance rate (meaning a base damage of 400 – 600).
- Item drops for all standard (i.e., non-unique) Treehugger Chanters have been updated as follows:
--- Level 20 – 29: Now has a 50% chance to drop Cave Mushrooms (25% base Steal chance)
----- All other drops unchanged
--- Level 30 – 39: Now has a 50% chance to drop Medicinal Herbs (25% base Steal chance)
----- All other drops unchanged
--- Level 40 – 49: Now has a 50% chance to drop Bizarre Fruit (25% base Steal chance)
----- All other drops unchanged
----- Dev Note: The Bizarre Fruit was formerly available only from Nathan at his Loican Checkpoint location…due to previous changes in the requirements to advance to the final dungeon, players who were unable to find Nathan (when he gets arrested midgame as part of Nyla’s questline) could find themselves unable to complete the game. Adding a healing item drop to these enemies served to make the drop tables more consistent with most other human enemies, and additionally (in the case of the Bizarre Fruit) serves to address a rare (but serious) player pain point.
Changes to Shops
- Ensenada (South)
--- The Old Woman in the Ensenada Grocery now sells the following:
----- Bizarre Fruit (1000 Volts)
----- Dev Note: As indicated elsewhere, this item was formerly available only from Nathan at his Loican Checkpoint location…due to previous changes in the requirements to advance to the final dungeon, players who were unable to find Nathan (when he gets arrested midgame as part of Nyla’s questline) could find themselves unable to complete the game. Therefore, this additional purchase location was added to address a rare (but serious) player pain point.
Changes to Weapons
- The “Tarnished Dagger” has been fixed
--- Now correctly reflects that Blade Mods can be used in the “Comparison” menu.
Changes to Skills
- The skill “Arctic Floe” has been updated
--- No longer strikes a single target.
--- Now strikes all enemy targets.
--- Description updated.
- The skill “Chi Strike” has been updated
--- AP Cost increased to 8 AP (previously 6 AP).
--- Damage is now calculated against enemy M. Resist, rather than Defense
--- Description updated.
- The skill “Sunburst” has been fixed.
--- Removed a coding error which was preventing the skill from dealing damage.
--- Fixed an issue preventing the skill from properly displaying the attack animation.
- Updated description for Blizzard
- Updated description for Diamond Drill
- Updated description for Evil Eye
- Updated description for Sonic Boom
General Changes
- MAJOR CHANGE: When tasked with hunting down specific powerful “variant” monsters, the player would previously need to search very carefully in order to find a single specific square containing the enemy in question, commonly leading to player frustration as they repeatedly “missed” the intended square. To address this issue, the “encounter zone” has been expanded for most (not “all”) of the unique variants which the player could encounter on the overworld map. Please note that the player must have started the relevant quest for the encounters to appear, with the sole exception being the Treehugger Fanatics encounter, which the player can potentially stumble across at any time during normal play (be careful!).
--- Cadaver Bloom (Unique Corpse Flower Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in six (6) adjacent squares which include (but are not centered on) its previous location.
--- Colossal Millipede (Unique Millipede Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in all five (5) squares of the dead forest near the Pedregal River where it previously appeared.
--- Executioner (Unique Lumva Beetle Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in all twelve (12) squares of the dead forest south of New Panavinto where it previously appeared.
--- Gorelance (Unique Dwearian Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in nine (9) squares in a 3x3 pattern centered on its previous location.
--- Jumbo Pugil Crab (Unique Pugil Crab Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in any of the eight (8) beach squares along the northern edge of the coastline in question.
--- Maneaters (Unique Shellbeast Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in nine (9) squares in a 3x3 pattern centered on their previous location.
--- Savage Chompers (Unique Chomper Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in six (6) squares in a 2x3 pattern which includes (but is not centered on) their previous location.
--- Shellbeast Titan (Unique Shellbeast Variant)
----- Can now be encountered in nine (9) squares in a 3x3 pattern which includes (but is not centered on) its previous location.
--- Treehugger Fanatics (Unique Treehugger Warrior & Treehugger Chanter Variants)
----- Can now be encountered in nine (9) squares in a 3x3 pattern centered on their previous location.
--- The following variant encounters’ areas have not been changed:
----- Juvenile Bunyip in NE Marema
----- Loreley (Unique Nymph Variant)
----- Myrmecoleon (Unique Antlion Variant)
- Updated “You Got (Item)” text during prologue for consistency
- Updates have been made to the “version” of certain system files within the game, which should increase performance speed and improve the general stability of the game.
- Updated the End Credits
