Shelldom 1.1.0 - Checkpoints Have Arrived

major update

Shelldom · published · build 24325863

New

Kaelwyn Checkpoints: Talk to a Kaelwyn, and he becomes your return point. Hold the Interact key anywhere to travel back to the last one you reached.

Easy Mode: A gentler run for newer players. Lower Gravity & Double Jumps are activated for the whole run, and all achievements remain available, but leaderboards are disabled.

Hidden routes: Getting close to the secret route wall fades with an unlock sound, revealing a passage through. Level 1 hides a teleport route of its own. Not available in Hardcore.

CRT Effect toggle: Options → Display. On by default; turn it off for a clean image at Stage Zero.

Movement & Feel

  • Dash no longer sags. After a jump pad, icicle, or the Stage Zero vacuum, gravity used to drag you down mid-dash

  • Dashing into a wall on the first frame no longer burns your cooldown.

  • A standing dash plays the dash animation instead of the idle pose.

  • New Effects for Jimbo & Gravo

  • New Effects for activation of buffs

Audio

  • Music never walks backwards. Descending, dying, or using a checkpoint keeps the highest zone's music. Only restarting resets it.

  • Hardcore music no longer stops permanently mid-run.

  • Orb pickups collected together chain into a rising musical run.

  • Dialogue ducking no longer leaves music quiet after restarting mid-conversation.

UI & Clarity

  • Kaelwyn dialogue can no longer be hijacked by walking to another NPC mid-conversation.

  • Spoken dialogue no longer replays after Continue or Restart.

  • Escape while rebinding a key cancels the rebind instead of closing the whole menu.

  • Double-clicking menu buttons no longer strands the screen transition.

  • Rebuilt shop and inventory screens; smoother loading transition.

  • Practice panel: stage teleports unlock as you reach each area

  • Improvements on Effects & Visuals

Fixes

  • the_eater Achievement now works on continued saves; it previously fired early or never.

  • Lifetime jump count no longer resets to zero.

  • Speedrun personal bests are no longer overwritten by worse times when Steam stats haven't loaded.

  • Settings and keybindings now survive a bad write.

  • Deleting a save no longer leaves a stale backup that could resurrect an old playthrough.

  • Practice-mode lava no longer converts your run into a genuine Hardcore run.

  • Dark orb no longer reappears after loading.

  • Shop purchases can no longer be triggered from anywhere after a Hardcore toggle.

  • Buff timers resume correctly after a practice teleport.

Performance

  • Orb rendering collapsed from 108 unique materials to 2, so they batch.

  • Shaders pre-compiled at export and behind the loading screen, removing first-use hitches.

  • Moving platforms and the end cutscene now step on the physics tick, no more rider jitter.

  • High-refresh mice no longer flood the input tree.
