Three Trials, a Gold Shop, and a Lot of Fixes

The Inducted Playtest · published

This is the first Playtest update in about three weeks, and it is a big one.
The core loop is now whole: three trials instead of one, somewhere to spend
your gold, and a long list of fixes from the last round of feedback.

NEW

A full run now takes you through three trials instead of one. Two new arenas,
Solenne and Ashfold, join the existing one, each with its own wave rotation.

Gold has a purpose. A Boon Pedestal now appears in the Antechamber between
trials. Hold Interact to buy a boon.

You now get a banner pick before the first trial, not just between trials.

The objective finally reads as an objective. Each active pylon runs a power
beam to the shield dome around the Rite Core, and the beams change as pylons
take damage, get repaired, or go down. If a pylon is damaged but still
powered, that is your cue to go repair it.

You can now quit to the main menu from the pause screen.

Joining a friend's game mid run works. You will spectate until the next
build phase, then drop in with a hero picked for you.

FIXES

The arrow pointing to a downed teammate now points at them instead of
locking to a random direction.

The arrow pointing to a downed pylon had the same bug. Also fixed.

The Tab overlay no longer overflows when you collect a lot of boons.
Stacked boons now show a count instead of repeating.

Fixed getting stuck in the build menu with no way to click anything,
including Cancel.

Turrets no longer keep shooting corpses while live enemies walk past.

The Engineer's Snare Mine is now a persistent slow field. It affects every
enemy that walks through it for its full duration, instead of catching only
the first one and vanishing.

Engineer controls changed. Left click is primary fire, right click places
turrets. While placing, left click confirms and right click cancels.

Gunfire no longer carries across the entire map at full volume, no longer
stacks into a wall of noise when you hold the trigger, and now has some
variation to it.

Bullet casings now eject to the side instead of always flying the same
direction regardless of which way you face.

WHAT TO POKE AT

Most of this has only been tested solo or in the editor, so the multiplayer
paths are the ones most likely to be rough. Especially useful to hear about:

Joining a game that is already in progress. What did you see, how long did
you spectate, did you get a body.

Quitting to the main menu, both as the host and as someone who joined.

Whether the pylon beams actually made the objective clearer, or whether it
is still not obvious what you are supposed to be defending.

KNOWN ISSUES

The pylon count pips in the HUD can show the wrong number. Known, being
worked on.

Health boons stack without a limit. If you find a run where you become
unkillable, that is why.

There is no audio or video settings menu yet. Volume and framerate options
are coming.
