Hey everyone!
These two updates add something many of you have asked for: you can now save your voyage whenever you like and come back to it later. I also went through the game's text in every language, because I found out the translations had drifted a long way from what the game actually says, and translating every line again turned up a few mistakes in my own English too.
Save and load (1.9.25)
- Save any time. Open the menu with Esc during a voyage and choose Save game. Give the save a name, or overwrite one of your older saves. You can keep up to 20.
- Load from anywhere. Load game is in the Esc menu during a voyage and on the title screen next to Continue.
- Before you load, the voyage you're leaving is kept as a "Before loading" save, so a wrong click never costs you a run.
- Saving in the middle of a battle or a landfall saves the voyage as it was when that battle or landfall started. The save window tells you when that's the case.
- The autosave works exactly as before. After you load a save, Continue picks up from the autosave of that voyage, and your save file stays as you left it.
- Saving isn't available during the tutorial or after a voyage has ended.
Finished voyages (1.9.25)
- Every voyage now remembers that it's the same voyage, even across different saves.
- If you finish a voyage you already finished from another save, you don't get its ship EXP, chart progress or win a second time. The end screen tells you why, and those saves are marked Finished run in the load list.
- Your first finish of every voyage counts in full, exactly as before.
Translations (1.9.25 and 1.9.26)
When I fixed the Japanese text in earlier updates, I found that the other languages had the same problems: about 550 lines in every language left out a number the English has (a cost, a reward, how much silver you get), and many event choices said something different from what actually happens when you pick them.
- Every language has now been retranslated from the current English, every event, quest and choice: German, French, Spanish (Latin America and Spain), Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Arabic, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Malay.
- Every choice now shows its amounts, names and outcomes, and fight warnings are back where they belong.
- Places, factions, bosses and ship rooms now use the same names in the story text as in the menus.
- Swedish now speaks to you as "du" everywhere, matching the rest of the game.
English text fixes (1.9.26)
Translating the whole game line by line into 29 languages turned up a few places where my own English was wrong:
- Three choices said "Take the 50 silver reward." but actually paid 70, 75 or 85 silver. They now just say "Take the silver."
- In the storm-bottle quest, the choice that asked for "two of the bottles" now says what you actually get: a storm bottle, a calm bell and 20 silver.
- The farm skiffs fleeing the frost now tell you about Skerrow Keep, which is what that quest is actually about, instead of an unrelated story.
- The Varrow election now explains its numbers clearly: the box shows a forty-vote loss, and without the fake tokens it was fifty-one.
- A bounty that read "Slay Lord Ostrander's second son…" now reads as the crime it describes.
- A few smaller fixes: a choice that promised a delivery you only agree to make, a mage called by the wrong name, a gale that lasted nine years and not ten, and two stray capital letters.
Thank you for playing, in whatever language you play in, and for all the reports and requests.
