New

  • DPS and XP report. The Activity can show, above the events, each hero's damage per second, XP per hour, healing and damage taken, plus the party's gold per hour. You can look at the last battle, the map, the last 5 minutes, the session or your own measurement, with play, pause and reset. The button at the end of the row swaps the numbers for a chart with a line for the party and one for each hero across your fights, plus a bar per hero, for DPS, healing, damage taken, XP or gold. It starts off: turn it on in Settings › General or in the arena's right-click menu, which also turns the events on and off.
  • World level. A hero 10 or more levels behind the world level (the level of the highest hero in the ranking minus 10) gets +50% XP, and 30 or more behind gets +100%. The bonus on the hero's portrait shows the total, catch-up bonus included.
  • Stacks of 3. Ores, essences, potions, gems, riftstones, scrolls and the Colossus materials now stack up to 3 per slot in the bag and the stash, with the count in the corner. Moving a slot between the two takes all of its units. Dropping a stack on a matching one merges them, and Sort merges the partial stacks.
  • Hero level-up. In the Crystal Shop, 1,000 crystals take one hero from your party or reserve up to the level of your highest hero. Online, the level-up arrives within 5 minutes, and a party hero waits for the boss fight to end. The XP bar fills level by level until it gets there.
  • More slots to save in. Builds, Party formations and Arena formations get extra slots, and each hero can now save equipment sets too, to put on in one go from the Inventory. Each slot can have a name and an icon of your choice. Each kind has 2 free slots; if you already played, you keep your 3 Party and Arena formations. Each extra slot costs 300 crystals, up to 10 more of each kind, and you buy it with "+ New slot" at the end of the screen's slot list.
  • Multiple houses. Have up to 10 houses on your account: the first is free, and each extra slot costs 1,000 crystals. With the button next to the house name you switch houses, name each one and pick your main house, the one visitors open first. Each piece of furniture stays in one house only. In the House Ranking and in the search, a player with more houses gets a badge like “+2 houses”.
  • Monster Ball. Ten Legendary Halloween skins in the Crystal Shop, one for each hero: Black Cat, Vampire Count, Coven Witch, Mummy Priest, Ghost Hunter, Patchwork Creature, Werewolf, Vampire Hunter, Haunted Harlequin and Hopping Skeleton. Every hero now has six skins, and the achievement for owning all 5 skins of a hero still counts any five of them. In the Skins tab, a new filter splits the collections: Classic and Halloween. They glow in a Halloween green, in the shop and on the hero, instead of the Legendary gold. In the Skins tab, the newest collection comes first, and within each collection the rarities go from Eternal down.
  • Halloween balloons. Four new balloons in the Crystal Shop: Midnight Web (Rare), Little Ghost (Mythic), Witch's Cat (Legendary) and Haunted Manor (Eternal). The Balloons tab also gets the collection filter, and they glow in the same green as the Halloween skins.
  • Pumpkin Bat. The new Halloween pet is on sale in the Crystal Shop for 500 Crystals and gives your party +5% health. In the arena, its aura glows in the same green as the Halloween skins.
  • Trick or Treat. A new House collection with 13 Halloween furniture pieces, such as the pumpkin carriage, the candy cauldron and the bat tree. A bats and moons wallpaper and an ebony planks floor come with it.

What changed, in pictures

A lot has changed, so here is the summary in pictures: what each system does now and what is worth checking on your account.

What to check on your account

Friends

  • Your heroes' items now start hidden from everyone; to show them, choose in "Who can inspect my heroes" (Social, Privacy). Your heroes' passives and abilities are never shown to other players on your profile or house.

Market

  • Before a listing goes up, a window shows the price you're listing for, the listing fee you pay right away and how much you get if it sells.
  • When listing an item, the 5 lowest fixed prices for the same item on sale now show up under the chart (for gear, same rarity and level), lowest first.
  • The Market now has a search: type any part of an item's name and pick it from the list that shows up.
  • The gem tooltip now shows how many of that gem can't go to Steam: the ones bought on the Market, received by Mail or transmuted with those. Before, this only showed in the Steam tab.
  • The Colossus Fragment and the Colossus Core can now go to the Steam Market. Only the ones that dropped for you can go: those bought on the Market and those received by Mail stay in the game.

Gear

  • Forging is much cheaper at levels 30 to 60: an item costs 4,000 at level 30, 8,000 at 40, 18,000 at 50 and 60,000 at 60. Enchanting and enhancing are unchanged.
  • Each rarity is now stronger than the one below, and the biggest jumps are at Legendary and Eternal: stats on Common gear give 10% less, Uncommon 5% less, Rare 2% more, Heroic and Mythic 6% more, Legendary 50% more and Eternal 120% more. The item card already shows the new value.
  • Fifteen pieces (armor, jewelry and offhands) swapped a line that barely did anything, like the repeated Chaos Resist or Regen, for one that works, like Dodge, Absorption, Block or crit. The pieces you already own change too, keeping their level, +N, gems and enchantments.
  • Sixteen pieces (weapons, offhands, heavy armor and jewelry), six of them already in the list above, swapped lines that barely did anything, like Thorns, Cooldown or Chaos Damage, for ones that work, like Dodge, crit, Expose or Health. The pieces you already own change too, keeping their level, +N, gems and enchantments.
  • The chest piece, legs and belt of light armor swapped Elemental Block for Dodge, which medium armor already had. The pieces you already own change too, keeping their level, +N, gems and enchantments.

Heroes

  • The classes, abilities and passive tree have been rebalanced. The pictures above show the summary.
  • Hero Power has changed: it is now the hero's base strength at their level plus what their items add (pieces, gems and enchantments), with pets, the Codex, the Bestiary and the Circle. The passive tree and abilities no longer count, and a hero's Power no longer depends on the rest of the party.
  • Poison and Burn got nodes of their own in the passive tree, in place of nodes of other stats, and their abilities now grow much more with the tree. Hemorrhage now gives +300% Poison and Conflagration +300% Burn. Check your tree: removing and adding points is free.
  • A few keystones in the passive tree moved to sit near the nodes they boost: Hemorrhage, Eagle Eye, Uncanny Reflexes, Unbreakable Wall, Absolute Bulwark, Unshakable and Arcane Blood Pact. The point you spent stays on the same node, but it now counts for the keystone that sits there.
  • Dodge chance now has a cap of 75%: no matter how much Dodge you stack, it never goes above that.
  • The +50% XP bonus for a hero catching up to the party now lasts until they are 3 levels below the highest-level hero in the party, instead of the lowest.
  • XP gain is down 44% on every map, to balance the new XP bonuses: damage to spare, the Colossus and the world level. Leveling up takes a little longer.
  • Killing an enemy with damage to spare now gives more XP, up to +50%: better gear levels you up a little faster.

Arena

  • End-of-season Arena rewards are now worth 4 times as much. In the Legend League, 1st place gets 12,000 crystals, 2nd 8,000, 3rd 4,000, 4th to 10th 2,000 and everyone else 800. The other leagues go up in the same proportion.
  • To get a season reward, you now need to fight at least 25 times in the season, instead of 10.
  • In Arena fights, the tooltip on your opponent's spells now shows only its name, type, target and description, with no rank or numbers.
  • During an Arena fight, your formation, build, gear and saved slots are locked until it ends, just like in a boss fight.

Colossus

  • The Colossus no longer flees: it stays until it falls, and the next one is born only after that, at the next scheduled time.
  • The Colossus now spawns to match who hunts at each time of day, and damage to it doubles for every 30 minutes it stays alive. Your damage for the ranking and medals doesn't change: arriving late won't put you ahead of those who came early.
  • The Bronze Medal now has a 25% chance of earning a Colossus Silver Chest. If you already got the 2 chests of the day, with any medal, you keep that 25% chance on every Colossus that falls.
  • Colossus chests and rewards now give XP too, and both gold and XP grow with the time you spend fighting.
  • To earn a medal, you now have to stay in the room for at least 25% of the Colossus's time (it was 15%, up to 9 minutes).
  • The medal tooltip in the hunt now comes with pictures: how to earn it, each tier and its prize, yours highlighted, and what comes in each chest. While the hunt is open, the medal shows as likely, with a "?", and the tooltip warns you when you still need more time in the room.

Fixes

  • A potion active when you close the game now counts for offline progress only for the time it had left, and that time is spent. Before, it counted for the whole absence and came back with the same time.
  • XP and gold potions now show their icon and color on the XP and gold lines of the Status window, as other potions already did on attributes.
  • With the arena at the top of the screen, the new version notice and the Welcome back window now open below it, on the same side as your windows, like the Inventory. They used to always open above the arena.
  • With Collect & Deposit, the Codex's Gathering, Magnet, Vigil, Keen Eye and Crimson Seal now also give +1% found gold each. With chests opening right away, they did nothing. Every Codex node that gives gold instead with Collect & Deposit now also shows the gold icon.
  • Aura of Restoration's Regen now shows the priest's Healing Done in the Status window and on the aura's card in the arena. In battle it was already healing that much.
  • In the Colossus, the game no longer goes back to your last saved point with the "Progress not confirmed" window.
  • Buying a path of nodes in the passive tree no longer makes the animation stutter: with many nodes already bought, it lit up in jerks. The same goes for removing several nodes with right-click.
  • In the Arena, fights against another player now start sooner and no longer look frozen: the clock shows "Preparing…" while the opponent loads, and the two teams' arrival is counted on screen (2, 1).
  • With "Instant chest opening" on, chests are no longer lost when the PC sleeps with the game open: when it wakes, they open as they drop. Before, the chest queue filled up and the rest became "chests lost: no room", even with an empty bag.
  • In the Ranking, your row now stays pinned at the bottom of the table in any position, including when you are at the top. The online dot of an Anonymous player now sits on the corner of the portrait, like everyone else's. In the clan ranking, your clan's row also always stays at the bottom.
  • On paired +10 gear (rings and the like), the card's +10 effect no longer squeezes the stat names until they break one letter per line, especially in Chinese.
  • With "Windows locked together" off and your windows moved up the screen, pulling the bottom edge now stretches the window all the way to the bottom of the screen. Before, it grew only a little and stopped far from the edge, which showed most in the Ranking, Market, PvP, Colossus and Mail.
  • In the Colossus, the top hunters list now follows each hunter's pace between updates: the numbers climb live and the rows swap places the moment they cross. Before, you would pass whoever was above you and then drop back when their damage arrived.
  • Items, heroes, skills and pets no longer show up with the old pixel icons now and then. Everything uses the new art, including gear forged long ago.
  • Dragging the game with a big window open, like the Ranking or the Market, no longer stutters: the interface follows the mouse smoothly.
  • Item tooltips, in the inventory and on airships, no longer end up behind the Activity window: while the two overlap, the Activity window steps aside.
  • The house now shows "Loading the house…" when opening and when switching houses. If loading fails, you see the error with "Try again" instead of a black screen.
  • On the card of an item bought on the Market, "Forged by" shows the name of whoever forged it (or Anonymous player), not the account code.
  • Zooming out of the passive tree with the mouse wheel no longer stutters. The lines only adjust their thickness a moment after the wheel stops.
  • Saved formations now also keep the pet, the balloon and each hero's skin, and loading the formation brings them all back. In the Arena, a saved formation keeps the PvP pet and skins.
