Patch 1.74.0: Talents Set Free

HB Evolution · published · build 26400192

This one belongs to you. Thanks to your support and your donations, changing talents is now completely free, and the new War Codex keeps your favourite builds within reach, stats included. Go try that build you never dared to pay for.

New

Talents are free to change. At your own City Hall you can swap the talent in either slot, clear a slot or switch branch, as often as you like and at no cost. Select a learned talent in the Talents window and press Change or Clear: a short three-step guide takes you through the new talent, its branch and a before-and-after view. Switching branch is free too, and is done in the same place (it used to cost 200,000 gold). Neutral characters can use either City Hall. You need to have been out of combat for 10 seconds.

This is a big milestone for modern Helbreath, and for Helbreath Evolution. Talents are the part of the game we put the most work into balancing, and now everyone can try every one of them and build around them. When a future rebalance touches your build, nobody is left behind: you simply rebuild it for free. It's possible because of your support and your donations, and this GM is committed to giving those donations back as in-game services as soon as possible. It happened with AI Live Translation, which started as a temporary service and is now permanent thanks to your constant support. Now it's the talents' turn.

War Codex. Save complete builds, meaning your stats and both talents with their branches, and load them back whenever you want to switch. Each character can get one in the Coin Shop: War Codex (3 builds) for 49 EVO Coins, Grand War Codex (5 builds) for 65, or Master War Codex (7 builds) for 80. Each upgrade to the next tier costs 20. You'll find it in the new War Codex tab of the Talents window, and you use it at your own City Hall. Saving, renaming (up to 16 characters) and clearing a build are free. Loading one costs 100,000 gold and needs you out of combat for 10 seconds. A build loads as long as your current stat points cover it, and it doesn't use up any Stat Reset or Majestic allowance. Equipment you no longer meet the requirements for comes off when you load.

Changed

Stat Reset is no longer limited to two every 30 days: buy it as often as you like, for 35 EVO Coins in the Coin Shop or 350 Event Tokens from Thaddeus.

Majestics can now move up to 400 stat points every 30 days, up from 200.

Warrior's Tenacity: weapons that strike several enemies at once (Archery, Fencing, Axe, and Hammer with Colossus Slam) now give x2 monster experience, up from x1.5. Short Sword and Long Sword stay at x2.5.

30-level enemy-kill rule: only your target's rebirths count, so your own rebirths never push a target out of range. A level 140 with 30 rebirths gets the kill on a level 110.

Force attack (Ctrl + A) is now on by default and remembered between sessions: just click an enemy player to attack, no need to hold Ctrl. A plain click still never hits allies or neutrals.

Key bindings open with Ctrl + F. A key with nothing assigned, such as an empty quick slot or an ability you haven't unlocked, now does nothing, so it never covers your screen in the middle of a fight. H is now free for you to bind.

Abaddon can now drop the Ice Storm Manual.

The Unlearn Talent Ticket has retired. With talent changes now free, it's no longer sold in the Coin Shop or by Thaddeus. Using one you still have shows a thank-you note, and the ticket stays in your bag. The 24-hour talent revert is gone too, since any talent change can now be undone for free at your City Hall.

Balance

Critical attacks and dashes, rebalanced to match how flexible the dash has become now that it no longer needs you lined up with your target:

A dash now adds +20 accuracy with a Long Sword, +15 with a Hammer and +10 with every other weapon. Dash damage is unchanged.

A Short Sword or Dagger critical gains up to +60 accuracy (at mastery 100 and level 140). Against players, its damage multiplier now tops out at x2. Against monsters it works as before.
