Update 0.2.0 - Industrial Works & NPC Enemies

major update

Bunker Rats · published · build 26384802

Industrial Works is now authorized for deployment. The Bunker Authority has reopened a third complex for material recovery. Additional Authority recovery teams have also been assigned to every complex, where they will operate alongside Registered Acquisition Technicians.ADDITIONAL FACILITY AUTHORIZED

Industrial Works was closed after its output became unreliable. Personnel may now enter its foundry, ore processing hall, fabrication hall, press shop, and powerhouse to recover Industrial Alloy, weapon mods, and the materials for Mk.II equipment. Several lights no longer work. Some of those that do should not be relied upon. Electrical faults, gas, and coolant leaks remain active throughout the facility.

CLEARANCE REVISED

All authorized complexes are now open to every Technician, regardless of clearance level. The deployment table lists the level each complex is recommended for. Technician clearance now extends to Level 15.

Equipment produced at the workbench still requires its clearance level before it can be equipped. Equipment recovered from containers may be used by anyone. Restricted equipment may still be carried, stored, sold, or recycled.

ADDITIONAL RECOVERY TEAMS AUTHORIZED

To keep material moving, the Bunker Authority has deployed its own recovery teams into the Supply Bunker, the Maintenance Tunnels, and Industrial Works. Some work in pairs and some alone, identified by tan, blue, green, white, or yellow suits. They sweep the facility's containers and then withdraw through the blast doors. Teams that withdraw are replaced.

These teams are not assigned to cooperate with you, or with each other. They watch, listen for footsteps, sneak, and decide for themselves whether a confrontation is worth the risk. They avoid fights they are unlikely to win, fight back when cornered, and break off a fight they are losing. Fewer teams deploy when more Technicians are present.

A team member who does not return leaves behind a container of recovered material. Personnel deployed in pairs are better equipped and are trusted with more valuable material. Technicians responsible are credited with scrip and experience.

BUNKER COMMUNICATIONS

Technicians in the home bunker may now exchange text messages. Press Enter to type and send, or Esc to cancel. Messages are not available during deployments. Muting a Technician in Options now mutes both their voice and their text.

QUICK DEPLOY

Select QUICK DEPLOY on the main menu and the Bunker Authority will assign you to a deployment: the fullest nearby lobby still forming in the bunker, or a deployment already underway with at least eight minutes remaining. If no deployment is available, a new lobby is opened for you.

The Bunker Authority now operates its own deployment servers. Quick Deploy places you on one first whenever space is available, so a deployment no longer depends on another Technician's connection.

ALSO IN THIS UPDATE

  • A refreshed interface. The main menu and mission table now look like Bunker Authority terminals, and the inventory, storage, armory, stations, and settings share a new, cleaner window style.

  • The HUD is now the display inside your mask. Vitals, environment readings, and your equipment sit in a terminal-style visor that powers on when you spawn. Contracts, the deployment countdown, and notifications appear on the visor too.

  • Each complex now has its own atmosphere: lamps light a thin haze of dust, damp air, or furnace smoke. Turn it off in Display settings with VOLUMETRIC FOG.

  • Lamps now glow, and the complexes show their age with water stains, oil, scorch marks, rust, leaks, and cracked walls.

  • The complexes run faster. Rooms and small props that are out of sight are no longer drawn.

  • A new UPSCALER option in Display settings sharpens lower render scales with AMD FSR 1, the new default, or FSR 2.

  • Bunker storage now has a second page, doubling it to 60 slots. Drag an item over a page tab to move it between pages.

  • The recycler now lists recyclable items from your bag and your bunker storage, so you no longer have to check each item's description. Recycle single items from either, or use RECYCLE BAG and RECYCLE STORAGE. RECYCLE STORAGE skips weapons, tools, and scanners.

  • The armory shop's SELL tab now lists your bunker storage too, so you can sell surplus materials without moving them into your bag first.

  • Quick loot is no longer silent. Emptying a crate makes the same noise as opening it, and nearby players can hear it. Searching remains now makes noise too.

  • On ultrawide screens the HUD now stays in a centred 16:9 frame. Turn this off in Display settings with HUD 16:9 ON ULTRAWIDE.

  • If a deployment's host disconnects in the first 90 seconds, nobody loses the gear they brought.

  • Joining a new lobby right after your host disconnected now waits for your last deployment to settle instead of failing.

  • The camera no longer clips through walls on your right.

  • Interaction prompts no longer appear for objects behind you or through walls.

  • I'm Stuck now lifts you out from behind tall props and finds nearby open floor.

  • A failed join no longer leaves a "ghost" player that keeps the deployment from ending.

  • Pressing confirm on a controller presses the button under the pointer.

  • Removed two footstep sounds that clicked, and Always On voice no longer sends key clicks.
