Howling Woods · published · build 26363519
Seasons are new to the woods. For a few weeks at a time the town dresses for the time of year, and the first is here now. It settles over your town as soon as you open it, in Free Hand and Progression alike, and a card from the woods tells you what has changed.
A gold moon low over the rooftops, with a blood-red rim round its halo. Its light falls gold on the town and lies gold on the water. Every fallen leaf gilded, with gold leaves and embers in the air.
Gourd lanterns along the eaves, corn bound to the porch posts, pots of mums at the doors, and carved turnip lanterns hung where the iron ones were.
Garlands and wheat wreaths with black bows, ghost-white gourds beside the jack-o'-lanterns, stooks of corn, bales of pumpkins, baskets of apples with a black one among them, scythes against the walls, and scarecrows in the deeper yards.
Autumn colors on your townsfolk, and on the cloth of the shops and stalls.
Halloween's candy wrappers still litter the doorsteps, and a few goblins have taken up their brooms to sweep them, grumbling.
Don't like the new event? Just turn off the seasonal content in the settings.
Arrives when your town becomes a Coven. In Progression his heart costs 1,500 dread.
His home is a stable that grows with the dread: a hitching post under a lightning-split tree with his grave beside it, then a burnt stable with embers still in the loft, then a black carriage house with a headless rider on its weathervane.
I rebuilt every home, shack, mansion, shop and works with the game's own procedural forge, adding far more detail to every building style.
Your town keeps the same houses on the same plots, and Trick or Treat Mode is the best way to see them up close.
Enjoy a brand new spookier moon, along with a new moon for each season
First placement of the Cider Press decor now costs zero dread, making the early game a little more forgiving.
Lots of fixes and improvements to town performance
