Hello everyone!
Our next catalog update is currently on the Steam beta branch, and it has several noteworthy changes.
First and foremost, we have added a truly exceptional Wolf-Rayet star (WR 102) to the catalogs, which is very luminous and very hot. The update also includes several adjustments for Solar System objects (Earth, the Moon, and Makemake), a large number of new exoplanets, and accuracy fixes, among other things. To learn more, please read the changelog, catalog updates, and catalog additions sections below.
To opt in to the beta, go to your Steam library, right-click SpaceEngine, then go to Properties > Game Versions & Betas, and select beta (public beta branch) from the list.
Improved color accuracy of Earth's aurora
Added age to the Moon
Updated albedo and photometric properties of Makemake
Added exceptional Wolf-Rayet star: WR 102
Improved the Theta Virginis system: Fixed the orbits and moved Theta Virginis C to its own system. It is not gravitationally bound to the Theta Virginis system.
Updated stellar properties of Deneb, RHO Cas, and UY Sct
Reassigned the name “Polaris Australis” to Sigma Octantis. It was previously erroneously assigned to the Acrux system.
Corrected the position and orientation of the Cartwheel galaxy and its satellites and improved their properties
Added approximate ages to Pleiades brown dwarfs
Corrected spectral class of a few misclassified brown dwarfs
Updated exoplanet GJ 1214 b’s physical properties
Corrected spelling of Lipperhey (55 Cnc A d) and updated its parameters
Updated stellar and orbital properties of 19 stars in the binary stars catalog
Updated the exoplanet catalogs with 107 new host stars, 124 new planets, two new brown dwarf candidates
