Update — First Person, New Movement and Video Options

Valsa das Macaúbas · published · build 26123883

A big update: you now play through Lucrécia's eyes, she moves far more naturally, and the game is lighter, brighter and easier to tune to your PC.

👁️ First person

  • Play through Lucrécia's eyes — look down and her body is there. First person is now the game's default.
  • Switch whenever you like — T on the keyboard, R3 on a controller, or the "First person" setting in Options. Your choice is saved.
  • Already have a save? It switches to first person too, just once. If you prefer third person, just switch back.

👣 New movement

  • New walking and running animations — Lucrécia starts, stops and turns far more naturally, and stops when she walks into a wall.
  • Her hand reaches for things — opening a door or drawer, picking up an item or lighting a candle, she reaches out to it.
  • The lamp sways in her hand as you walk, and no longer clips through walls.
  • A more natural pace — running is slower and more realistic, the same in both cameras. The Catacombs enemy slowed down in the same proportion, so the escape is no harder than before.

📜 Objectives

  • A cleaner screen — the objectives panel no longer stays on screen all the time. It shows up for a few seconds when you enter an area and when an objective is added or completed (with sound; new ones in gold, completed ones struck through).
  • To see your objectives, press TAB on the keyboard or D-pad up on a controller. If you prefer the panel fixed, turn on "Always show objectives" in the main menu Options.
  • The inventory now opens with I (on a controller it's still View), since TAB now belongs to objectives.
  • A hint for the Catacombs key — try the door without the key and you'll get an objective to find where the Mother keeps it.

🖐️ Interaction

  • Aim at any part of an object — doors, items, puzzles and scenery respond across the whole object, not just a small spot like the doorknob.
  • Bigger interaction areas on objects that made you get very close.

⚡ Performance and video

  • Low, Medium and High graphics quality — Low and Medium make the game lighter on more modest PCs.
  • Your graphics card no longer works for nothing — VSync is on by default and the game no longer runs with an uncapped frame rate (before, even the menu pushed the card to its limit). Less heat and less fan noise.
  • FPS limit from 30 to 240, or unlimited, for those who turn VSync off, plus a Show FPS option.
  • A lighter game — small optimizations that cut unnecessary work every frame.

🎨 Image

  • A brighter image — outside the Catacombs, every area now has a more neutral tone with more shadow detail. The Catacombs stay dark on purpose.
  • "Brighten shadows" — the old "Brighter image" option is now a gradual slider in Options. Brightness lifts the whole image; this one reveals what's hidden in the dark.
  • More natural candles in the Convent — the wall candles fade in before you enter a room and no longer go out in front of you when you leave.
  • More natural colors in the Infirmary, without the greenish tint in the shadows.
  • Sharper key and button icons, and new art on the loading screen.

🐛 Fixes and tweaks

  • The interaction icon showed up in front of you even with your back to the object — it now disappears when the object is behind you.
  • The piano puzzle and the chapel's small door could be opened from far away, even through walls.
  • The chapel diary's icon almost never showed up, and the diary could be picked up from any distance.
  • The V key (an ability with no use yet) is disabled for now.
  • Fixed a typo in the English text ("Lliving quarters").

Thanks for playing — sweet nightmares. 🕯️
