Fishing Factory - Patch Notes & Small Update

Fishing Factory · published

Hey everyone!

Got a fresh batch of fixes and features ready for you all. This patch clears out some of the clunkiest bugs you’ve been reporting, hooks up some highly requested QOL features.

First up, the big news: Fishing Factory comics created by 3D rendering the game models directly!

It’s been super fun to build these little scenes outside of normal gameplay, and it lets us dive into some NPC lore. You can check out the first few panels down in the community hub!

On the gameplay side, the inland area was eating up way too many resources, so a massive optimization pass done. You should see roughly a 1.5x performance boost when facing inland now.

Quests, Dialogue, & Fishing QOL

  • Quest Icons: Quests will now actually show the specific item icon you need to find.

  • Smoother Multiplayer: Completely reworked how the backend handles multiplayer quests. Network delays should be way lower now, and we added a nice little completion animation to celebrate finishing them.

  • Dialogue Keys: Tired of clicking? You can now just press the number keys (1, 2, 3 etc.) to pick dialogue options.

  • Fishing Polishes: Added a dedicated fish spawn animation. Finally fixed that annoying bug where the "E" prompt would just stay stuck on your screen while you were actively fishing.

  • Pool Interactivity: Fixed an audio bug that caused way too many overlapping sound effects when clicking fish pools. Also, you can no longer break immersion by standing right on top of the pools.

Inventory & Items

  • Drag and Drop: You can finally drag items around to organize them. This also cleared out a handful of annoying item-handling bugs.

  • Responsive Slots: removed those weird invisible gaps between inventory slots. Clicking around your inventory should feel a million times more responsive now.

  • Cursor Stuck Fix: If you have an item attached to your cursor and close the menu, it will now properly return to your bag instead of getting floatingly stuck to your mouse.

Building & Farming

  • The Shoreline: Expanded the shore layout a bit and added a buildable deck right near the water.

  • Grid Placement: Furniture now snaps to a strict grid instead of letting you place things down in chaotic, arbitrary spots.

  • Ghost Furniture Fix: Fixed a bug where objects were registering as "built" in your stats before you even placed them down.

  • Worm & Apple Farming: Added purchasable pots and seeds so you can officially start a little bait farm to harvest your own worms and apples.

Fish Spawns & Breeding

  • Pity System: RNG giving you a hard time? Added a pity limit to fish spawns. If you've been waiting forever, rare fish are now guaranteed to spawn after a certain amount of time.

  • Bait Requirements: Cleaned up the fish-growing UI. It now explicitly tells you which specific bait is required to grow your fish.

Physics, World, & UI Updates

  • Collisions & Boundaries: Improved the trigger check for when a player tries to walk into the water. Also, player-to-NPC collisions are now properly enabled so you can't just phase through them.

  • Floating Objects: Cleaned up the map and grounded a bunch of random environment assets that were floating in the air.

  • UI Polish: Updated the hover window info, added a dedicated "X" close button to menus, and gave the fish pools a fresh new icon.

Thanks as always for sending over your bug reports and feedback!
