A smaller update, mostly about IRC. Thanks to everyone who reported the BitchX and Zircon problems.
IRC: BitchX and Zircon
- Zircon is readable now. It takes its colours from X resources, the way Zircon did in 1997: a dark text pane, with distinct colours for crew nicks, joins, topics, actions and errors. Any other nick keeps the same colour every time you see it. To change any of it, edit ~/.Xdefaults. A thread on the newbies board explains how.
- BitchX has its own desktop icon and opens in a terminal. The first time you run it, it shows a few notes. Type /tips to see them again.
- Every BitchX line shows the in-game time, older scrollback included, with a "Day changed" line between days.
- Clearer dialogue choices in BitchX. Each question says who is asking, the options are numbered [1], [2], and they disappear once you answer. Long lines wrap between words.
- /me works in every client and survives saving and reloading. In a private conversation the NPC receives it. Zircon's Action button uses it too.
- /quit closes only the client you typed it in. To sign off the network, use /disconnect.
- Fixed: changing to the nick you already have no longer prints a nick-change line.
Desktop
- The Exit control on the front panel is back to its normal size. It had been filling the whole panel.
