The day now has an inside: intraday charts, a broker's account and a new 7-day session.
Version 2.0 is the biggest change to CandleBook since launch. Until now, one candle was one day. From today every session runs on a minute clock, and the day has an inside.
You can read the same session day by day or down to 5-minute candles. The account now works the way a broker's does. And there is a new way to play: a full week of day trading, in one sitting.
Here is everything in it.
⏱️ ONE CLOCK, SIX TIMEFRAMES
Same session. Same market. Same orders. Six ways to look at it: 5M, 15M, 1H, 4H, D and W.
Switching timeframe never changes the market, your positions or your score. It only changes how much of the day each candle holds. Read the trend on the daily chart, then drop to the 15-minute or the 5-minute to time the entry.
- NEXT CANDLE advances one candle of the view on screen: five minutes on 5M, the rest of the day on D. Orders, stops, targets and price alerts act on every minute along the way.
- Run the clock. Press >> and the candles form on their own, at the pace you pick: from one candle every half second to one every five minutes.
- Jump ahead until something happens: a fill or a stop, your price alert, the next scheduled event, the market's main session, today's close or tomorrow's open.
- Stops and targets scale to the view. The percent and ATR chips on the ticket follow the timeframe you are on, so a stop on the 5-minute chart is measured in 5-minute candles.
📅 REAL HOURS AND A REAL CALENDAR
Every market now keeps its hours on the broker's server clock (UTC+2, the trading day closes at 00:00).
- Main sessions. London and New York for forex, the cash session for each stock index, pit hours for commodities. They are shaded on the intraday charts. Outside them the moves are smaller and the spread is wider.
- Daily breaks. Indices and most commodities stop trading for their break, and reopen with a gap when news landed while they were closed.
- Scheduled events at their real time. US data at 15:30, the Fed at 21:00 and its press conference at 21:30, the ECB at 15:15, the Bank of England at 14:00, the Bank of Japan at 05:00, oil inventories at 17:30. Every release lands on its exact minute.
- Headlines carry their time and appear when the clock reaches it: the warning the day before, a reminder an hour before, the number itself, and the reading afterwards. Over 35,000 written headlines, and some of them are still there to fool you.
⚡ SPRINT: A WEEK OF DAY TRADING
A new session length, built for the intraday charts: seven market days, played in one sitting of 20 to 30 minutes.
- The desk closes every evening. Whatever is still open is closed at the market and pending orders are cancelled. Nothing is carried overnight: the house rule of an intraday desk. You can switch it off in CUSTOM SETTINGS, and that session becomes unranked.
- The clock moves on the intraday views. The daily and weekly charts are there to read the bigger picture.
- Eight markets with desk hours: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, USA 500, US Tech 100, Germany 40, gold and crude oil.
- Its own target and its own leaderboard.
🏦 A BROKER'S ACCOUNT
Every session is now a margin account.
- Each market carries its own leverage: 1:30 in forex, 1:20 in indices and gold, 1:10 in the other commodities, 1:2 in crypto. The old leverage selector is gone.
- AMOUNT is the size of the position. Opening it holds only its margin, and the top bar shows your free margin while a position is open.
- Bid and ask. The chart shows the bid. You buy at the ask and sell at the bid, and the spread is the typical one for each market in its active hours. It widens in thin hours, at the forex rollover and in the minutes around a release.
- Overnight swap by market and side: hold through the daily close and it is charged, or paid.
- Stop-out. If equity falls to half the margin in use, the broker closes the position losing the most. The balance never goes below zero.
Size BY RISK still does the arithmetic for you: choose what you are willing to lose, set the stop, and the ticket works out the position. Leverage does not change your risk. Your size does.
🎯 EVERY SESSION OPENS WITH A MANDATE
Before the desk opens, a morning briefing sets out the return target, the risk budget, the market's hours and the scheduled events of the week.
The trade limit is gone, and so are the Disciplined and Freestyle modes. How many trades you take is your call. The report judges how you took them.
📊 A REPORT BY THE HOUR
The session report now reads in three layers: the verdict, what the session says, and the detail.
- The verdict. Your grade and score, five figures, the equity curve, and one line: NEXT TIME, the single change that would help most.
- THE CLOCK. Your result by the hour you entered, how many stops the noise inside the candle took on days that still closed your way, and what holding through the close cost.
- Two new leaks in the journal, nine in total: trading the thin hours, and chasing the release.
- Click an earned achievement in the report to see it unlock again.
🌱 SEEDS: THE SAME SESSION FOR EVERYONE
Every session has a seed, shown in the report with a COPY button. Paste it in IMPORT and you get exactly the same session: the same market, the same candles and minutes, the same headlines at the same time.
It is how a teacher hands the same exam to a class, or how two friends compare decisions on the same chart. A session started from a seed is practice, so it stays off the leaderboards and unlocks no achievements.
🛠️ AT THE DESK
- Price scale: AUTO or fixed. By default the price axis follows the candles on screen. Fix it and the hand moves the chart up and down as well as sideways. A double-click on the axis goes back to AUTO.
- Trailing stops by ATR, as well as by percent.
- A NOTIFICATIONS switch on the top bar, next to TOOLTIPS. Off: only errors, refused orders, your own price alerts and margin warnings still show.
- Tooltips step aside after a few seconds, or when you click the control.
- The session file is encrypted. A session brought back in with IMPORT is practice from then on.
- Two achievements were rewritten to match the new rules. Iron Discipline: finish a session with a stop on every trade and inside the loss budget. Risk Manager: finish in profit with a maximum drawdown under 5%.
🎓 THE SCHOOL
The 45 live lessons keep the rules they were written for, so every lesson plays the same as before. The user manual has been rewritten for 2.0, with every screen retaken. Free and online, from the MANUAL button.
WHAT CARRIES OVER
- Your journal and your achievements, untouched.
- A session you saved in 1.0 resumes with the rules it started with.
- The three existing leaderboards keep their scores. Sprint adds a fourth.
Targets now follow each market's range as the 2.0 engine draws it, so a few of them moved by a few points.
WHAT YOU GET, AS ALWAYS
One price. No subscription. No account. No ads. No microtransactions. It runs offline, start to finish. Every update since launch has been free, and this one is no different.
CandleBook is still a practice instrument: synthetic markets, virtual money, no promise of profit. What it trains is process.
Keep the reports coming. Every one of them is read. See you at the desk. 📈
