Avoid the Void 1.3.5

Avoid the Void · published · build 25863234

Performance

Big FPS improvement for builds with lots of shots, like attack speed + crit + lifesteal. Hit effects are now capped: damage, hit flashes, damage numbers and sounds are unchanged, but the game no longer piles up hundreds of decorative effects at once. In our worst test case, frame time went from ~112 ms to ~25 ms.
Enemy trails are much cheaper to draw, so busy rooms run smoother with every build.

Steam Deck

Controller prompts from the very first screen.
The interface fills the whole 16:10 screen and is larger, for readable text.
The seed field opens the Steam on-screen keyboard.

Controls

Button prompts now show the actual button icons for your controller: Xbox, PlayStation or Steam Deck.
The mouse wheel scrolls through menu options.
The Space key name is now translated into every language.

Display

Borderless mode now uses true non-exclusive fullscreen: no more black flash when alt-tabbing, and switching between windowed and borderless works on the first try.
In borderless mode, the resolution setting shows your monitor’s actual resolution.

Language

Fixed the settings menu showing Spanish on first launch while the game was in another language.

Gameplay

Ships are slightly faster, and the boost bar lasts a bit longer.
Parry rooms: a single parry now destroys a firewall.
Wandering Core hits much softer, especially when it lunges at you.
Laser warnings last longer for every enemy and boss.
Endless mode: when the Hunt phase starts, enemies speed up gradually instead of all at once.

Menus & UI

Hangar: locked ships can be selected again and show what you need to do to unlock them, without revealing their name.
Pause menu: your stats now appear next to the options, plus a map colour legend for the room types you’ve already found.
The Stats HUD setting has three options: In pause menu (new default), Always, or Hidden.
Slot machines show the cost per spin, and show “NO PRIZE” when a spin misses.
The recycler explains what it does (it swaps the item in that room) and shows which button uses it.
Race rooms have their own grey on the minimap.
Damage below 1 now shows one decimal.
