This update rebuilds the two map minigames and the map commissions that pay for them, and fixes a few things players ran into. It's live in the demo now.
Map making
- Map Writing and Map Alignment now use the same colors as the world map.
- Maps move a whole hex at a time as you drag and lock only on the exact spot.
- An Overlap button sets how the two maps are drawn over each other: Center, Wedges or See-through.
- Practice from the Minigames menu runs on real maps from the world generator.
- Your map shows land you've surveyed or have on paper, not land you've only walked past.
- A settlement's chart now follows its roads and paths instead of straight lines to its trading partners.
- Found maps can be studied at any time.
- Both lessons are rewritten, with new clips in all 12 languages.
Map commissions
- The offer shows the most a job can pay in coins and Scholar experience. Jobs in regions farther from home pay more.
- Pay grows with how much of the map you fill in.
- Experience and your standing with the town grow with how much of it is right. A wrong hex, road or settlement costs standing; a blank costs nothing.
- A town that stops trusting you stops offering map work.
- The result shows the map's Quality and Accuracy.
Fixes
- Creatures standing still now appear as soon as they come into sight.
- The rustle that marks a hidden creature is much easier to spot.
- Hovering a hex near the bottom of the screen shows its details again.
- Text that didn't fit in several languages now fits, and the town map hint wraps instead of cutting off.
- English text uses US spelling throughout.
- Traditional Chinese: two terms no longer revert to old wording.
