Tom's Forge Now Takes Bows and Armor

HB Evolution · published · build 25784972

Update 1.48.0

Tom has been busy. The blacksmith who used to look at nothing but melee weapons now takes bows and metal chest armor too, and his list of properties has grown from five to twenty-three. The Auction House finally sorts and searches the way you always assumed it did, and two residents of the ice have come back from the workshop.

You must update your client to log in. Close the game and the launcher, then reopen the launcher and press PLAY. On Steam the update is automatic.

New

  • Tom's Forge works on bows and metal chest armor: 4 bows and the Chain, Scale, Plate and Ring Mail chest pieces, men's and women's, join the melee weapons. Masterwork and Perfect give a bow +1 and +2 damage, and a chest piece +4 and +8 physical absorption. As with weapons, quality also raises Endurance and the level the piece asks of you.
  • Eighteen new properties, each kind of piece with its own list. Weapons gain Advancing, Ambushing, Anarchic, Holy, Unholy, Frost, Blinding, Impact, Toxic, Vampiric and Hunter. Bows get Anchoring, Reliable, Hunter, Holy and Unholy. Chest armor gets Adamant, Balanced, Comfort, Fortification and Reflecting. They cost 250,000 to 1,000,000 gold, and a piece still carries only one at a time. Every effect and price is on the Tom's Forge page of the wiki.
  • A few to give you the idea: Reliable makes a missed arrow still deal 20% of its damage. Reflecting returns 10% of the melee damage that lands on your chest piece. Hunter adds +2 damage against one family of creatures (Beasts, Undead, Humanoids, Giants, Constructs or Fiends), chosen when you order it.
  • Properties that work in a window or on a cooldown now show their own icon on your buff bar: lit with a countdown while active, greyed out while recharging.
  • The Auction House filters by weapon type and armor slot, and you sort by clicking a column header; a second click reverses the order. Search works in Chinese and Korean, and a partial name finds every matching item in any language.
  • Frost and the Ice Golem have been rebuilt in 3D with far more fluid animation. Worth another look on your next trip to the cold.

Changed

  • Kloness Mercy now lowers the Reputation loss multiplier to x3 instead of x2, and its Rebirth 6 reinforcement takes it from x3 to x2 instead of removing it.
  • Founder's Capes can no longer be dyed. Capes that were already dyed return to their original color the next time they load.
  • Auto-clickers and mouse macro tools no longer work in the game. This also blocks third-party remote desktop mice and Steam Input's controller-to-mouse mapping.
  • Poisoning weapons only apply their poison when the hit lands, and never inside buildings.
  • Benevolent now triggers when an ally falls anywhere on your screen, instead of only right next to you.

Improved

  • The bottom bar has been redrawn at four times the detail, with cleaner HP, MP and SP numbers.
  • The Chat History window (F9) can be resized by dragging its bottom-right corner, and slang translations use the full width of the window.
  • Tom tells you plainly when he doesn't work on a piece.
  • Crafting with a full bag warns you in the panel before the product is made, and shows a clear alert if it ends up on the ground.
  • In the character window (F5), a Hauberk worn under body armor can be picked from the lower half of the torso.
  • A sword or shield passing over a monster no longer pulls your cursor off it.
  • When the server closes your session, after a name change or a restart, the game returns to the login screen right away.
  • Fragile Sword of Medusa carries its own green aura, and weapon auras play animated on the wiki.

Fixed

  • Critical hits with Vicious and blood weapons fly at your target.
  • Running no longer makes the SP bar read 1 point low.
  • Several buildings and props in Elvine and Aresden are drawn whole again.
  • Long Boots on female characters show their leather detail, dyed or not.
  • Item tooltips in the Auction House and other windows stay above the bottom bar.
