The Wrong Ones Playtest · published · build 23609872
A new update is now live!
This update focuses on progression improvements, gameplay balance, deduction consistency, and several issues reported during the playtest.
Save Progress Preservation
• Fixed an issue where game updates could reset player progression.
• Existing saves are now properly migrated when new versions are released, preventing previously unlocked content and progress from being lost.
Distort Limited to 1 Per Round
• Distort can now only appear once in a round.
• Multiple Distorts often created deduction scenarios where too much information was suppressed at once, making rounds feel more random than solvable.
Hollow Limited to 1 Per Round
• Hollow can now only appear once in a round.
• Multiple Hollow effects frequently resulted in excessive misinformation that was difficult to reasonably identify through deduction alone.
Improved Hollow Targeting
• Fixed an issue where Hollow could occasionally target invalid characters. Hollow will now only target Pets and Common Townspeople as intended.
Guaranteed Catalysts
• Catalysts no longer rely entirely on random chance once unlocked.
• If a round supports Catalyst appearances, they will now reliably appear up to the intended limit, allowing players to engage with active abilities more consistently.
Doctor Ability Fix
• Fixed an issue that could allow the Doctor's ability to be used more than once in the same round under certain circumstances.
Improved Status Indicators
• Characters affected by multiple effects now correctly display all relevant status badges.
• Effects such as Weaver swaps and corruption-related statuses can now be identified more clearly during reveals.
Improved Reveal Explanations
• Post-round reveal text now does a better job explaining when multiple effects influenced a character.
• This should make it easier to understand exactly why a character behaved the way they did throughout the round.
Saint Reveal Improvements
• Fixed several inconsistencies involving Saint-related reveal messages.
• Reveal explanations should now more accurately reflect what occurred during complex interactions involving Saint disguises, corruption, and swaps.
F12 Keybind Removal
• Removed the developer console shortcut bound to F12.
• This prevents conflicts with Steam's default screenshot key.
Pause Menu Improvements
• Fixed several issues where players could still interact with gameplay elements while the game was paused.
• Actions such as banishing, card interactions, and menu navigation are now properly blocked until gameplay resumes.
• Fixed several edge cases involving reveal logic and status effect interactions.
• Fixed multiple UI inconsistencies reported by playtesters.
• Improved gameplay stability during longer sessions.
• Various minor bug fixes and polish improvements.
Thanks to everyone sharing feedback and bug reports.
