Patch Notes
Thank you to everyone who sent feedback and a big shout out to Lemon. This update is based on your feedback.
Sound effects
- Hits, enemy deaths, every weapon type, explosions, pickups, chests, dodge rolls and shop purchases now have sound.
- Weapon sounds are kept under control so a full loadout never drowns out the important stuff, like getting hit.
- New Sounds volume slider next to Music. Both sliders now go all the way to silence.
Settings during a run
- The pause menu and the shop now have a Settings button: change audio, gameplay and graphics options without quitting your run.
- Settings is easier to move around with a controller.
Know what you're buying
- Upgrades show what changes, e.g. "DMG 10 → 11".
- If buying an item swaps out one you already have, you will see the difference in items and refunds.
- Your equipped gear shows which recipes it belongs too.
- Recipe progress clearly separates what you hold now from what you've found before.
- Stat names and descriptions have been updated to be more clear.
- Character select shows each cat's starting stats.
- Distances are measured in cats now, e.g. "RANGE 7.8 cats".
Grimoire
- Weapons and items show their real stats.
- Locked cats stay a mystery, but now tell you how to unlock them.
Cat Defense
- Fixed a bug where defenders now pick their own targets within reach.
- New category of short-range area cats defenders (spray bottle, flamethrower, cat cry) can now stand in the road.
- A new Rules panel (in the shop and the pause menu) explains kibble, interest, stripes and upgrade paths.
- Upgrades and stripes show what they give you, e.g. "+15% dmg".
- The Market shows when it's closed.
- Role cats' (Dozer, Maestro, Farmer Whiskers) boons and curses properly take effect.
Turrets
- In wave modes, turrets run on a charge. When it runs out they pop and come back next to your cat, so they stay where the fight is.
Quality of life
- Keyboard game speed hotkeys: = and - switch between 1×, 2× and 3× in battles, Cat Defense and the dungeon.
- Fixed a bug where you can be stuck on thefirst round: if you have no weapon and can't afford one, the shop offers "Fight bare-pawed" with a free Paw so you can progress.
- Button prompts match the device you're using, keyboard or controller.
- Players see a reminder for the Tumble (dodge) key during the first waves. And the glyph is in the pause menu
Steam Deck
- All text now meets the Steam Deck's minimum readable size, including the 4-player shop. Fixed a few outliers.
Fixes
- Picking up two boss chests back-to-back could leave the game paused with no popup on screen.
- The main menu could open with Quit highlighted on Steam Deck.
- Bonus weapons in the pause menu showed a code name instead of the weapon's name.
- Achievement banners no longer flash by at 2× and 3× speed.
- "Arsenal" no longer unlocks too early, and "Cat Collector" can now be earned. Achievements you've already earned stay earned.
