Fear Faith Playtest · published
- Leveling up faith shouldn't lock you in place or crash the game.
- Wendigo hiccups reduced.
- Wendigo has very slightly less HP and damage; the fight is easier through other methods such as buffed parries and punches.
- Brother shouldn't get stuck out of the room or into geometry.
- Some tutorial texts ignoring language settings and going with Windows language settings have been fixed.
- Leaderboard bug eliminated.
- Tutorial texts changed, communicating basic mechanics somewhat more clearly.
- Finding lore now gives hope.
- Attacks end faster, allowing for more responsive parrying.
- Resolve buff scaling better even at base level.
- Punch now scales both with strength and resolve.
- Punch doesn't consume stamina, making situations where you have to take damage impossible.
- Punch is now blocked until it is unlocked via Brother tutorial; this way players won't be able to use it without knowing how it is used.
- The directional mark that told you what direction you were hit from greatly changed in appearance and size. Now it should be hard to miss.
- The directional mark doesn't appear if you got hit by a projectile since projectiles can be parried in any direction; it could lead players into the sensation that they must parry them in one specific direction.
- The directional mark is changed for a different effect if you got hit by an attack that required a punch.
- Red halo around enemies when they are about to hit you.
- New accessibility setting: more readable fonts.
- New accessibility setting: A directional mark that not only tells where you got hit from if you get hit, but it also tells you in what direction the next attack is coming from.
- Accessibility options now come with a tooltip to explain themselves better.
I'm aware that the red halo probably won't be enough for the readability problem; the next patch will include a shader that allows you to see enemies through your character. This way enemy attacks won't be occluded by your own body.
Also, some of you noted that parrying didn't quite feel rewarding; with the buff to resolve, now you should be able to deal massive damage just by parrying and punching.
A big new priority that I'm hoping to get done in the next weeks is a Linux build.
I'm aware that there are tons of issues still unresolved in this patch, but they are being worked on, such as horrible UI navigation, window mode, more resolutions support, dead zones for controllers, bugs, bugs, and more bugs.
Thanks again to everyone who is giving feedback or just playing the playtest; every little thing helps a lot!
