Gridfire Update: Badges, Map Voting & Connection Info

New: Badges

- Earn badges by unlocking achievements, and equip one to show it beside your name on the scoreboard and in Play of the Game.

- Find them in the new BADGES tab in Settings, in the main menu. Hover over or highlight a badge to see how to earn it, and click one you own to equip it.

- Rookie: every pilot starts with this one. Get out there and earn some badges of honor!

- Early Adopter: a limited-time badge and Steam achievement. Launch Gridfire before the end of December 2, 2026 (Pacific) to earn it for good.

New: Vote to Change Map

- Tired of the current map? Open the pause menu and choose CHANGE MAP to call a vote for a map that fits the current mode.

- A vote panel appears on the right side of the screen for 10 seconds. Vote with F1 / F2, by clicking, or with D-pad up / down on a controller.

- Two thirds of the players must vote yes, and not voting counts as no.

- If it passes, the round ends, you get the usual results and Play of the Game, and the next round starts on the new map.

- Each player can call a vote once every 5 minutes.

New: Show Ping

- Turn on Show Ping in Settings > Gameplay to see your connection to the host beside the minimap.

- It shows your ping and how much it's jumping around, coloured green below 100 ms, yellow from 100 to 150 ms, and red above that.

Fixes

- Host migration: when the host leaves, the player who takes over now keeps their team. Before, they were moved to Green.

- Connection quality over Steam: the game now measures it properly. Host migration also uses that to hand the match to the player with the best connection.

- VIP sinking: the player chosen as VIP no longer briefly sinks into the floor at the start of a round.

- Respawn cages: players spread out instead of all spawning on the same spot.

- Pause menu: all of its buttons now fit when playing on Steam, where the Invite and Code buttons appear.

- Scoreboard: larger text, centred in each row.

- Menu ticker: the scrolling ticker on the main menu is updated with the latest news.

- Translations: the new features are translated into all six supported languages.

- Leaving a match: fixed an error that could appear while leaving.
