v0.7.3 - New Crops, Processing Machines, and Production Chains

On Steam

Hi farmers, 😄

Thank you for continuing to play Farm Factory Simulator during Early Access, and for sharing your feedback, suggestions, and bug reports through the Steam Discussions and the in-game Bug Report / Feedback feature.

This update expands farming and production with four new crops, two new Processing Machines, new production chains and recipes, longer Conveyor Bridge pieces, and several improvements that make Machines easier to understand and manage.

Here is what is included in this update.

Main Updates

1. Four New Crops

Four new crops have been added:

  • Onion

  • Potato

  • Sunflower

  • Pumpkin

Unlike the existing multi-harvest crops, these are one-harvest crops.

Once the crop is ready and harvested, the plant withers and the plot needs to be planted again before another harvest can begin.

Their growth timing also varies slightly between individual plots, so crops planted at the same time will not always become ready at exactly the same moment.

These new crops also become ingredients for several of the new production chains introduced in this update.

2. New Processing Machines and Production Chains

Two new Processing Machines have been added:

  • Mill

  • Preserving Station

Both Machines also have their corresponding Mirror variants.

Together with the new crops, this update introduces 24 new items and 16 new recipes, expanding the number of ways raw farm products can be processed into ingredients and finished products.

a. Mill

The Mill processes crops and other ingredients into products such as flour, powder, and seasoning ingredients.

Some recipes can also require multiple ingredients, allowing the Mill to become part of more advanced production chains.

New Mill products include:

  • Corn Flour

  • Paprika Powder

  • Spice Blend

Corn Flour can also be used as an ingredient in other recipes, creating multi-step production chains such as:

Corn → Corn Flour → Cornbread

b. Preserving Station

The new Preserving Station processes products through preserving methods such as drying and salting.

New products include:

  • Sun-dried Tomato

  • Raisins

  • Salted Duck Egg

This provides another production path for crops and animal products that can then be sold through your Store or used as part of your wider factory setup.

c. More Recipes Across Existing Machines

Several existing Processing Machines also receive new recipes using the new crops and ingredients.

New recipes include:

  • Sunflower Oil

  • Salsa

  • Onion Soup

  • Mashed Potato

  • Spanish Omelette

  • Cornbread

  • Potato Chips

  • Pumpkin Soup

  • Pumpkin Pie

  • Onion Rings

Some products now act as ingredients for another stage of processing.

For example:

Sunflower → Sunflower Oil → Potato Chips

or:

Corn → Corn Flour → Pumpkin Pie

This gives you more options for deciding whether to sell ingredients directly or continue processing them into higher-level products.

3. Intermediate Products

Some commodities are primarily intended to be used as ingredients for another production step rather than automatically becoming products customers expect to find in the Store.

These are now treated as Intermediate Products.

Current Intermediate Products include:

  • Corn Flour

  • Sunflower Oil

  • Butter

  • Yarn

  • Fine Yarn

Customers will no longer randomly request these products simply because they have been unlocked.

Instead, customers will only consider them as Store products when you actually choose to display them on a Store Rack.

For example, if you produce Corn Flour only to make Cornbread, customers will no longer start requesting Corn Flour itself unless you intentionally place it for sale.

Intermediate Products are also excluded from Hot Day product selection.

This should give you more control over which processing ingredients are intended for factory use and which ones you actively want to sell in the Store.

4. Longer Conveyor Bridges

Two new Straight Conveyor Bridge pieces have been added:

  • Straight Conveyor Bridge 3x1

  • Straight Conveyor Bridge 5x1

Previously, longer raised conveyor routes had to be assembled using multiple Straight Conveyor Bridge 1x1 pieces.

The new longer variants allow the same routes to be built with fewer individual Conveyor pieces.

They can connect with the existing:

  • Straight Conveyor Bridge 1x1

  • Curved Conveyor Bridge 1x1

  • Slope Conveyor Bridge

Ground-level Conveyors can still pass underneath them, giving you more options for creating compact multi-level factory layouts.

Improvements

1. Smoother Ratio Splitter Flow

Item movement through the Ratio Rotary Splitter family has been improved.

Previously, items could briefly stop in the center of the Machine before turning toward their assigned output.

Items now continue into their selected route without that unnecessary pause.

This applies to:

  • Ratio Rotary Splitter

  • Ratio Rotary Splitter Overhead

  • Double Stack Ratio Rotary Splitter

The existing ratio behavior remains unchanged.

2. Processing Machine Blockage Warnings

Processing Machine monitors can now provide clearer information when production has stopped.

If a Machine cannot continue processing, the monitor can display the reason along with a suggestion for how to resolve it.

Warnings can now identify situations such as:

  • An ingredient blocking the Input while Excess Ingredient is set to Hold at Input

  • A full Output

  • A full Failed lane

For example, if one ingredient fills the Input while the recipe is still waiting for another ingredient, the monitor can suggest changing Excess Ingredient to Send to Failed.

These warnings are available across the Processing Machine family, including the new Mill and Preserving Station.

This should make it easier to diagnose why a production line has stopped without needing to inspect each part of the setup manually.

3. Clearer Machine Upgrade Information

Machine Management now provides more information about Machine upgrade progression.

Upgradeable Machines now display their current and maximum available level in the format:

Lv. X/N

For example:

Lv. 2/6

When a Machine reaches its current maximum level, the level indicator is highlighted.

If the next upgrade requires a higher Player Level, the Upgrade button now displays:

Upgrade at Level X

This makes it easier to distinguish between a Machine that is currently maxed out and one that can receive another upgrade later in your progression.

Thank you again for playing Farm Factory Simulator during Early Access.

We hope the new crops, Machines, and production chains give you more ways to expand and reorganize your farm and factory.

As always, we will continue reviewing your feedback and reports as we work toward further updates and the road to v1.0.

If you encounter any issues, confusing behavior, balancing problems, performance issues, or unexpected production flow, please let us know through the in-game Bug Report / Feedback feature or by sharing your thoughts in the Steam Discussions.

See you on the farm! 🌱
