Patch 1.1.5: Living terrain and easier inspecting

On Steam

Some abilities now change the ground for a few turns: Morrathil grows Forest and Synn floods cells with Water. Inspecting creatures works with the mouse first, and you can read an item before you pick it up.

Terrain that changes

  • Morrathil has his own Vines in the Blightwright tree: range 3, roots one enemy and deals damage, 3-turn cooldown. The Treant keeps Vengeful Vines as before.
  • New Morrathil upgrade, Thicket (after Vines): when Vines roots an enemy on natural ground, up to 3 cells of Forest grow around it for 3 turns. Forest never grows under an enemy.
  • New Synn upgrade, Flood (after Drown): each Drown adds a Tide stack. At 3 stacks the drowned target's cell and up to 2 cells next to it turn to Water for 2 turns.
  • New Synn upgrade, Way of the Tide (after Flood): while Synn is alive, she and her allies move through Water for 1 movement per cell. Everyone who has it shows a Way of the Tide buff.
  • Grown Forest has bushes and trees. The trees fade when one of your eternals stands in or next to the cell; the bushes stay.
  • Snow and Lava are drawn with a new cell overlay, so they look the same on every map and appear faster.
  • The terrain message now also shows when the ground changes under your eternal, and at the start of a level if you start on special terrain.
  • Being in one Forest no longer lets you see into a separate Forest. Creatures hidden in Forest stay hidden unless you are in the same patch of Forest or right next to them. This applies to monsters too.

Inspecting creatures

  • Point at a creature and press E to open its sheet, or click it. The outline shows what the sheet will open. Clicking no longer selects a creature.
  • If you point at nothing, E opens the last creature you attacked. Click your own portrait to open your own sheet.
  • The sheet works with the mouse first: the key hints at the bottom are buttons, there is a close button, and rows show an arrow and light up on hover. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move and Space opens a row. WASD keeps moving the camera.
  • Abilities are now rows on the sheet, like conditions. The short line shows the action cost, range, dice and cooldown with icons. Open a row for the rest: targets, total impact, the description and upgrades.
  • The defence dice box fits up to 4 dice in one row.
  • Monster ability descriptions no longer repeat range, cooldown or dice. A few were wrong and are fixed: Ethereal Slice does not ignore armour, and Crimson Shackles slows enemies only, for 2 turns.

Items and empowers

  • Hover a chest or a dropped item, or move the pad cursor onto it, to read the item's name, tier and description before you pick it up. This works once one of your eternals has looked inside (stood on or next to it). Thanks to Stubbieoz for the request.
  • The empower prompt keeps each short description over its own button, with the targets just above, and stays fully on screen when your eternal is near the edge.

Interface

  • The event log and the inventory can be minimised to a small tab. The tab pulses when something new arrives. Settings has Show Event Log and Show Inventory for pad players.
  • The skill point "+" on an eternal's portrait opens that eternal's skill tree.

Balance and text

  • Frazzah no longer gets a free top-up to 10 Cryostasis on his first Thrust each turn.
  • Snow Storm's description now says it covers 2 cells around Frazzah. Thanks to Stubbieoz for spotting it.
