Well. Darrell 3D is 1.0.
When this thing hit Steam six weeks ago, Darrell had a sword and a shield. Then he dropped them and started punching things, because honestly that was funnier. Then he got a dog. Then a better dog. Then a whole kennel. Then a radio, a haunted VCR, a closet full of outfits, a Sysop who cheats at tic-tac-toe, and a mode that turns the whole dungeon into a rave.
None of that was the plan. There was barely a plan. There was a stupid idea about a cocky idiot trapped in a BBS door game, and then there was you. You played it, you broke it, you told me what sucked (loudly), and every single patch since launch came from that. So this one's yours too.
For the nerds: Darrell became a real game four months ago, when I pulled him out of a web browser. Since then it's been just me: over 1,600 commits, 16 updates, a pile of late-night hotfixes nobody saw, zero idea what I was doing, and a crash course in Steamworks that kicked my ass harder than any boss in this game. Turns out Darrell and I have a lot in common. What a ride.
Darrell 3D is 20% off for the next week. And the price I promised during Early Access is the price forever. It's not going up. Not today, not later, not when some guy in a suit tells me it should.
1.0 isn't me walking away. It means the foundation's done and I'm proud of it. I'm still going to polish, tune, fix, and listen, same as every week since launch. Darrell's got a lot more ass-kicking to receive.
So tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your dogs, they're family.
Thank you. For real. I mean it, which makes me feel things, so I'll end it there.
