February Playtest · build 26386819 · published
This release's focus was polishing the existing playtest experience and not delivering new gameplay or mechanics. Version 0.5.4 contained the bigger changes and the delta to 0.5.5 was largely superficial, so I combined the patch notes for the two versions.
The playtest experience has been trimmed to under 15 minutes. The game intentionally loads into the tutorial and only one regular level is accessible. Updated a number of islands to remove two unsatisfying crystal tiles.
The February's roll now changes her hitbox to one tile's size. She can now roll through gaps one tile wide!
February's roll is available from the beginning of the Prologue and now has a dedicated keybind (which can be changed in the settings). Her automatic roll on landing has been removed. Her roll can be queued while in the air, just like her jump.
The roll now has a teaching point in the Prologue. Other prologue levels have incorporated the roll as a necessary ability to continue.
February now has a "regain a lot of stamina" animation.
Notifications in the Prologue that explain abilities now only appear after the player has collected the discovery.
Dialogue in the prologue is no longer mandatory. Fairies have been moved to be on or almost on the player's intended path in the prologue to compensate.
The portal now has an activation animation, which plays when February has rescued enough fairies and moves in range.
Fixed a bug where February would continue her respawn windup animation if the player cancelled it by moving.
Fixed a bug where February's abrupt stop animation wouldn't play.
Fixed a bug where February's rolling animation would continue to play after cancelling a roll and landing in a short amount of time.
Gameplay bug: Player upgrades purchased in the shop are reapplied every time the player enters a new world.
Stability bug: The game becomes unresponsive in the loading screen while world generation runs. The loading screen is not updated.
Visual bug: HUD doesn't resize correctly when the resolution changes and is bigger than 1920x1080px, resulting in text that is too small
Visual bug: February's landing animation doesn't play.
Misc bug: Keyboard keybinds are activated on the Steamdeck when the touchscreen is used.
Misc bug: Neighbouring buttons in the shop aren't always in the intuitive direction using a joystick or arrow keys.
