Guilds of Mountgate – Update v0.3.8.2

Greetings Adventurers,

v0.3.8.2 is now live! 🎉

With the changes from v0.3.8.1 and v0.3.8.2, we're introducing another substantial round of improvements to everyday gameplay in Guilds of Mountgate.

This time, the focus is on giving players more meaningful objectives, more rewarding community activities and better ways to interact with the world.

Daily and Weekly Challenges are making their debut, Community Projects are becoming more rewarding, the Journal continues to grow, and several professions and interfaces have received another round of improvements.

Daily & Weekly Challenges

One of the biggest additions is the introduction of Personal Daily and Weekly Challenges.

These provide additional objectives to work towards alongside your regular activities, giving you more reasons to explore different parts of the game and engage with professions you might otherwise spend less time on.

The goal isn't to turn Guilds of Mountgate into a game where you feel obligated to complete a long checklist every single day.

Instead, Challenges are intended to provide optional goals and additional direction while preserving the game's relaxed, idle-friendly nature.

Whether you're actively working through a profession or simply looking for something different to do, these Challenges offer another way to make progress throughout Vellgar.

Community Projects – Contributions Now Matter More

Community Projects have received another important improvement.

Contributing materials now provides direct rewards, rather than only contributing towards the eventual completion of the project.

This means your participation can feel worthwhile even before the shared objective has been reached.

We've also made Smithing Community Projects more varied. Their requirements now rotate, introducing more variety instead of repeatedly requesting the same materials.

Community Projects are intended to give players shared goals without requiring everyone to be online at the same time or actively cooperate in a traditional multiplayer party.

Every contribution matters, and now the act of contributing should feel more rewarding as well.

Journal, Quest Log & Achievements

The Journal and Quest Log have been combined into a single interface, bringing several important sources of information together.

We've also continued expanding the Journal itself.

All currently available settlements are now represented within the Journal, accompanied by extensively rewritten descriptions that provide more useful information and additional worldbuilding.

The goal is to make the Journal increasingly valuable as a source of knowledge about Vellgar, its settlements, resources and history – rather than simply a list of discovered items.

The Achievements section has also been redesigned to improve readability and navigation.

Alongside these changes, the underlying Quest System has received a substantial technical overhaul to provide a more consistent experience throughout different Questlines.

Hunting – More Control Over Your Approach

Hunting preferences have been clarified and expanded.

Players can now choose whether to Hunt or Ignore animals across all Hunting groups, including Small Game, Hoofed Game and Fur-bearing Animals.

Ignoring an animal still consumes search time, but it no longer consumes ammunition or Tool durability.

Ignored animals also provide no loot, XP or Hunting progress.

Existing Hunting plans retain their previous behavior, so players won't unexpectedly find their established setups behaving differently after the update.

These changes give players more control over how they approach Hunting and which types of wildlife they want to pursue.

Gathering Minigames Rebalanced

Gathering Minigames have received a substantial balancing pass.

XP rewards now take several factors into account, including location, gathering method, Tools, weather and Focus.

We've also standardized the rewards for successful Minigame performance:

  • Good: 4× expected normal Gathering XP

  • Very Good: 6× expected normal Gathering XP

  • Perfect: 8× expected normal Gathering XP

Additional loot no longer multiplies the XP reward again, preventing unintended reward stacking.

We've also improved event handling so delayed Minigame responses can no longer incorrectly reward a different activity or a newly started Minigame.

More Satisfying Gathering Feedback

Gathering activities have received several visual improvements.

Trees and rocks now display Health Bars and Damage Numbers, providing clearer feedback as resources are being worked.

When Gathering produces loot, corresponding Item Icons now visually drop from the Skill Animation.

Skill Animations have also been improved to better avoid overlapping other UI elements.

These changes are intended to make gathering feel more responsive and satisfying without requiring additional interaction from players who prefer the idle approach.

Mysticism – Concentrates & Improvements

Mysticism has received another addition with the introduction of Concentrates.

These can now be produced through Mysticism, creating additional uses for resources and expanding the profession's existing production options.

We've also corrected the descriptions of Mysticism batch sizes.

The ×3 and ×5 options now correctly display their additional production times of 10% and 15%, rather than showing an unrelated Firewood warning.

And for those working with Greenbane Potions, these are now stackable.

Gold Veins & Tool Quality

Gold Veins have received a balancing adjustment.

Players can now extract up to 5 Ores per Gold Vein, with each extraction providing 25% more Gold Ore.

We've also fixed two important issues affecting Tool quality.

Repaired Tools now correctly retain their improved quality instead of reverting to standard values.

Higher-quality Tools also no longer suffer disproportionately high durability loss compared to their regular counterparts.

Upgrading equipment should be an advantage, and these corrections ensure that improved Tools behave accordingly.

Farming & Everyday Convenience

Farming now remembers your last selected Seed or Crop and places it first when reopening the Farming menu.

It's a relatively small change, but one that should make repeated planting considerably more convenient.

The Bank interface has also received another round of polish, with more consistent typography and control sizes.

We've additionally corrected several smaller issues involving Inventory positioning, Tool repair tooltips and other frequently used interfaces.

A More Flexible Chat Window

The Chat window can now be detached from the main interface, moved freely and resized.

This gives players more freedom to arrange their workspace according to their own preferences, especially when using larger displays or keeping several interfaces open at once.

Level-Up Effects & Interface Improvements

Level-Up effects have received a visual overhaul.

The local Travel interface has also been improved, with better centering and more consistent background dimming and blur across different window sizes and UI scaling settings.

We've additionally fixed several Quest issues, including a problem that could prevent "For the Hard Stone" from progressing despite having the required items.

The wording of Mira's introductory Quest has also been clarified, and several missing Item Icons have been added.

Freight Notifications

Players at the departure location now receive a notification when a new Freight Contract becomes available.

This makes it easier to notice new hauling opportunities without constantly checking the local Freight Board.

More Reasons to Return

One of our continuing goals for Guilds of Mountgate is to keep the entire world relevant, even as more regions and higher-level content become available.

Daily and Weekly Challenges, Community Projects, Freight Contracts and the expanding Journal all contribute to that direction.

They provide more reasons to revisit familiar settlements, interact with different professions and participate in activities beyond simply pursuing the next Skill Level.

At the same time, the improvements to Hunting, Gathering, Tool quality and everyday interfaces help make those activities more enjoyable and consistent.

The world continues to grow, but so do the reasons to spend time in the places you've already discovered.

And that's exactly the balance we want to keep working towards.

Have fun with your first Challenges, the improved Community Projects and all the new additions! ❤️

Thank you for being part of the journey.

See you in Vellgar!
