Terran Dawn 0.5.6 – Blueprint Variants, Continuous Production & AI Defense

On Steam

Terran Dawn 0.5.6 is now live!

Ship Design and Production

  • Named ship blueprint variants: duplicate a design, create different loadouts, and rename or delete variants in the Ship Designer. Each variant appears as a separate choice in the Shipyard and is saved with the current match. New matches start without custom variants.

  • Queued ships retain the loadout selected when they were ordered, even if you later edit or delete the blueprint variant.

  • Continuous ship production: enable repeat production for individual ship choices and blueprint variants. The Shipyard continues after manual orders, waiting when resources, housing capacity or ship limits prevent the next build.

  • The Shipyard now includes category and class filters, search, and sorting by name, build cost or build time.

  • More compact shipyard rows and production panels that resize to their contents make the interface easier to navigate.

Controls and Interface

  • Right-drag on empty space to set both a fleet destination and its arrival facing, with a formation preview.

  • Tactical pause, camera pan and camera rotation can now be rebound. Camera controls also accept mouse buttons. Tactical pause is available in single player.

  • Camera movement speed now scales with zoom. Scrolling and controller camera speeds can be increased to 600%.

  • Optional activity and cargo indicators on your civilian ships make it easier to track work, travel, deliveries and waiting states.

  • The event log now has category filters that persist with saved games. The compact log also uses typography that better matches the HUD.

Better AI Base Defense

  • The AI responds better to enemy constructors, forward bases and defensive structures appearing near its bases.

  • Defenders regroup and engage more coherently. Under pressure, the AI better balances replacing miners with building the ships needed to protect them.

Balance Changes

  • Weapon module damage reduced by 20%.

  • Weapon damage research bonuses reduced by a combined 10 percentage points per faction.

  • Newly spawned asteroids contain 10% more ore.

  • Mining cycles now take twice as long, with the same amount of ore extracted per cycle. This slows extraction.

  • Increased base evasion for smaller ships: Scouts 40%, Fighters 35%, Bombers 20% and Corvettes 10%.

  • Total evasion chance is now capped at 60%.

Strategic Abilities

  • Xenos wreck assimilation now pools available wreck material to create temporary ships in several hull sizes, starting with the largest possible hulls. Unused material remains in the wrecks.

  • Voidborn portals now stand vertically and face each other, with purple lightning and refraction effects. Transit is limited to 100 crew and 30 ships.

Fixes and Training

  • Fixed an issue that could cause faction textures to disappear.

  • Mining and construction effects no longer reveal work hidden by fog of war.

  • Fixed exits through the nebula screens around starting areas where scouts could get stuck.

  • Mining activity indicators now follow actual harvesting more accurately, including the time between extraction cycles.

  • Basic training now teaches how to relocate unfinished base buildings, with updated instructions and narration in all five supported languages.
