Hey Commanders,
Fixes from your reports, and a few things from a long list of feedback on Discord (thanks lnomsim!):
- The front moves now. When your campaign reaches a new region, the battle moves there in the break after the wave: Novostroyka at wave 25, Chernogorsk at 75, Sosnovka at 125. Your base keeps its health, your army comes along and your barricades stay where you built them.
- Strikes from the battlefield. Strike commands you've unlocked at the HQ now sit as keys in the bottom right corner of the battle screen, next to the commander keys. The cooldown runs down on each key; click one when it's ready.
- Trees can come down. Rockets, shells and bombs fell the trees around them, and vehicles drive straight through the forest, pushing trees over as they go. Technicals and infantry still have to go around.
- WW2 uniforms for everyone. In the Second World War era every allied soldier now wears the period uniform, including the troops your APCs and trucks drop off, veterans and reinforcements.
- Real icons. 21 vehicles that were still using stand-in icons in the Garage and deployment cards now have their own.
- New option under Settings → Graphics → Wreckage on the ground: how long the dead, wrecks, dropped weapons and thrown-off parts stay on the field, from Off to a minute. Big waves no longer have to bury the battlefield.
- On Sosnovka (map 4) the enemies no longer wait at the edge of the map forever. All the trees made their route to your base too slow to work out, so they never set off and the waves did no damage. Now they come for you up those hills (thanks BCisonline!).
- The M3 halftrack's gunner now stands inside the ring mount at his gun, instead of hanging on to it from outside, and drivers keep their hands on the wheel instead of through the side of the cab (thanks Alex n' Italy!).
- The game speed you pick now sticks between runs. It used to drop back to 1x after every round; now the next battle starts at the speed you left it on.
- Dropdown lists in Settings (language, quality, notifications...) no longer open as a white box with invisible text (thanks cloudargs!).
- A hiccup in one part of the game can no longer stop the waves altogether. A new player reported a first wave that never arrived; if anything like that ever goes wrong again, the battle carries on.
- The air support card no longer talks with a helicopter pilot's voice. It's quiet for now until it gets its own radio lines.
More patches are on the way. Appreciate all the feedback and reports, keep 'em coming!
If you have a minute, I'd really appreciate a review on Steam, whatever you think of the game. Honest reviews help other players decide whether Wartide is for them, and they tell me what to work on next. As a solo dev, I read every single one.
See you on the front,
