Another Small Fix

I’m continuing to work through your feedback and fix things I’d gotten used to myself. Turns out that wasn’t always a good thing.
- Loot is no longer taking camouflage lessons
There were plenty of complaints about items being hard to spot. The idea was survival with resource scavenging, but in places it turned into pixel hunting. The drone and scanner were supposed to help, but they weren’t particularly convenient to use. With the playtest still running, I’ve added loot markers. Let’s see if that helps.
- Searching a zombie is no longer an excuse to put your weapon away
The character now remembers which weapon he was holding before the search and equips it again once the animation ends. Checking one zombie’s pockets doesn’t mean the others have agreed to a ceasefire.
- The flashlight now has its own key
Your feedback made it clear that turning on a light shouldn’t be a gameplay mechanic in its own right. I’ve removed the flashlight from the overlay and made it character-mounted. Press L to toggle it on or off. For now, the key is fixed and can’t be rebound in the control settings.
- Another crate, another story
Sometimes players opened the crate by the car too early, leaving the quest marker stuck in place. It can now only be opened after the dialogue by the car ends, so the quest can progress correctly. That’s two fixes in a row involving crates. I’m starting to suspect who the real antagonist is.
- Main menu music is no longer pretending to be a sound effect
Previously, its volume could be adjusted using the sound effects volume setting. That mix-up is now fixed.
