Thank you to everyone who played and sent feedback. This update is built on your reports.

Please note: permanent progress has been reset. The balance changed so much that old upgrades and records no longer made sense. Upgrades, cores, coins, ascensions and records start over. Your achievements and run count stay. The leaderboards start from zero as well.

New

  • Overdrive. Your core now grows during a run. You earn a point every 2 minutes and for every boss, and spend it on the panel on the left: Power, Reach or Rhythm. The fight never pauses for it, and the core gets bigger and brighter as it grows.
  • Three new cores:
    • Frost Core chills enemies until they freeze solid. Frozen enemies stop, take more damage and shatter when they die.
    • Vampire Core has less health, but every tick drains life back into the core. Kills feed a frenzy, and life drained at full health charges a blood nova.
    • Null Core has no element of its own. It fuses two of your cores at half strength each and switches between them every tick. Pick the pair in the main menu.

  • Four new build systems, eight in total. Every milestone offers five of them.

    • Orbs: slow orbs of your core's element drift through the crowd and burst. With Reactions they set off enemies marked by other elements.
    • Echoes: enemies you kill may rise as ghosts of themselves and fight for you for a few seconds.
    • Thorns: armor, health and a hull that bites back at every enemy that hits the core or the shield.
    • Mini-cores: small copies of your core on the diagonals, made from the other cores you own.

  • Frost Satellite. Every shot bursts into a cloud of cold, and three hits freeze the target.
  • Element edges for orbital weapons: Molten, Frost or Charged. Blades, lances and hammers now burn, freeze or arc.
  • Pin and Banish: new upgrades that let you set a card aside for later or remove it from the run.
  • Leaderboards by survival time and by kills, for all cores or for each core separately.

Reworked

  • Rings are now rotating arcs with gaps. No more walls and no more enemies stuck forever: a pushed or pulled enemy gets a short immunity. Resonance fires where the arcs of two rings meet.
  • Upgrades are now trees in three tabs: Regular, Builds and Permanent. Ascension needs only the Regular tree maxed. Builds stay through it and don't get more expensive, and prices after ascension rise gently instead of exploding.
  • Permanent bonuses now cover every build, not only satellites.
  • The core ring stays sharp at any zoom, with four styles to choose from in Settings.
  • The main menu shows four cores at a time, with arrows for the rest.

Balance

  • Bosses are now the first target for satellites, drones and skills. No more bosses that live forever.
  • Point Defence no longer deals many times the damage of every other satellite: it was counting the core's damage twice. The other satellites now match it against regular enemies and hit shooters half as hard.
  • Satellites, orbitals, skills and rings get half of the core's damage growth, so damage cards help your whole build.
  • Cards for stats that are already at their limit are no longer offered.
  • Heavy Rhythm now says clearly that it makes ticks slower.
  • Orbital weapon counts are fixed: hammers no longer disappear, and every kind keeps at least one in orbit.

Visuals

  • You can now see statuses on enemies: flames, acid, frost and the Void mark.
  • The hit flash is softer and takes the color of the element that hit.
  • Hover over a satellite to see its range. Repair and shield satellites show their beams.
  • Every damage source gets its own damage numbers, so blades and satellites show their hits too.

Quality of life

  • New option: pause on Alt+Tab, in Settings and in the pause menu.
  • Volume starts at 50% on first launch.
  • The run card fits big builds, and NEW RECORD moved to free space.
  • The currency is called coins everywhere.
  • The game version is shown in Settings.

Fixes

  • The core tooltip no longer shows through menus.
  • Hunter Protocol can no longer be applied to the same satellite twice.
  • Cards can no longer be played while the game is paused.
  • Cards no longer jitter under the cursor.
  • Surrender now shows the right number of coins.
  • Alt+Tab during a boss intro no longer leaves the game in slow motion.
  • Reforging the core now replaces the old core's stats too. Lightning to Void no longer keeps the fast ticks.
  • The ring behind the main menu is no longer cut off.
