Tickerbound 0.4.0 — Building toward launch

Tickerbound · build 25895064 · published

On SteamNotes only · this build shipped before we watched the app

Tickerbound 0.4.0 is now the default pre-release build on Steam. The game is still Coming Soon; this update prepares the game for launch and updates the build available to existing testers.

Build, own and manage

  • Explore more fictional businesses and homes, with original regional photographs and country/region labels. Listings make acquisition costs, running costs and what you own easier to understand.
  • Clearer management across all 296 businesses. Review Steady, Balanced and Growth strategies, fund optional service or efficiency improvements, or keep the cash. Improvement names and descriptions suit each business type, with clear upfront funding, setup timing, forecasts and risks.
  • An improved operating screen for every owned business. See the latest recorded income, costs, net result and settlement period, then review management actions. Forecasts and project funding remain separate from recorded operating profit.
  • Emberpost Pizza introduces the first specialized contract pilot. Accept a small or larger lunch commitment, or decline it, with clear setup costs, kitchen-capacity tradeoffs and recorded delivery results. This contract pilot is available only at Emberpost in 0.4.0.
  • Choose personal or rental use when buying a home. Review rental policies and optional property improvements with clear funding, timing and risks.
  • Purchase confirmations show the item photograph, total cost, fees and your money after buying. Rental ownership screens also distinguish recorded operating results from estimates. Project and contract funding remain separate from operating profit.

Trade and follow the market

  • Improved candle and volume-bar spacing across chart ranges. Weekly and monthly forming candles join the correct interval, with clearer information about available history and gaps.
  • Company charts display prices in your selected currency; TBX 500 displays index points. Chart information panels can be dismissed, and those choices survive restarting.
  • News distinguishes new developments, follow-ups and commentary. Briefs separate the direction of a reported development from confidence in its significance.
  • Rebalanced the lifetime effect of directional news pressure to reduce prolonged accumulation. Company risk, major events and speculative stocks still matter, and exceptional moves remain possible.
  • Marketplace auctions support custom maximum bids, bid shortcuts, cost reviews, leading/outbid status and public bid history. Your maximum is a limit, not the final price or a guarantee of winning.

A clearer workspace

  • Refined Tickerbound fonts, bundled offline currency symbols and more consistent artwork framing keep the navy-and-gold style.
  • 155 display currencies use the game's fixed fictional exchange rates. Money values include currency symbols; percentages, counts and index points keep their own units.
  • Safe Bank and Trading portfolio balances stay visible in the header, with compact large values and exact totals available on inspection.
  • The header Menu includes Return to main menu and desktop Quit, respecting Autosave and unsaved-progress warnings.
  • Improved browsing continuity for filters, selections, News and company research. Back to collection closes the asset details, and additional pagination controls make long listings easier to browse.
  • Restarting resumes the last active career. The Windows runtime also includes security maintenance.

Existing careers

Supported older saves migrate while preserving balances, ownership, progression, recorded prices and chart history. Active news retains its remaining duration; revised news influence applies to future updates, so future market paths can differ from earlier versions. Saves updated by 0.4.0 cannot be opened by older game versions.

Display currencies do not change the underlying money values. All companies, news, items and credits are fictional; there is no live trading or cash-out.

Thanks for following Tickerbound as we get ready for launch.
