Update 1.54.0: Talent Rebalance, 46 New Quests and a New Coin Shop

On Steam

Update 1.54.0

Half the talent trees went back to the forge and came out with sharper edges, Middleland finally pays its hunters, and the Coin Shop got a proper shop window. It is a big one. Read the Changed list before your next fight: some of it giveth, and Lightning mages will notice what it taketh.

You must update your client to log in. Close the game and the launcher, then reopen the launcher and press PLAY. On Steam the update is automatic.

New

  • 46 new hunting quests. Middleland: Werewolf, Mountain Giant, Ettin, Unicorn, Ogre, Cyclops, Troll and Orc Mage. Promiseland: Zombie, Skeleton, Helhound and Frog. Beholder in the three Towers of Hell and Icebound, Liche and Demon in Tower of Hell 3, and more in the hunting zones.
  • The Coin Shop is now a single storefront with item icons, a Best Sellers row picked from what players actually buy, and offers. Slates are half price: Experience 28 to 14, Health 6 to 3, Mana 6 to 3, Berserk 2 to 1. 200 Majestic points drop from 70 to 60 coins.
  • The System Menu (F12) has a new layout: categories on the left, options in two columns, and a help line at the bottom that explains whatever you point at.
  • F12 > Graphics: a soft ring under hostile monsters, so the small ones stand out in a crowd. Off by default, with adjustable intensity and four colors.
  • F12 > Audio: the map ping chime has its own volume slider and can go up to twice as loud.
  • The Orc, the Orc Mage, the Master Mage Orc and the Giant Tree have been remade in 3D, with far more fluid animation. Worth another look on your next hunt.
  • Double-click a Shard or Fragment to store it in the Enchant Bag. It asks how many, with the whole stack already typed in.
  • The Q, E, R, T, F, Z, X and C key binds are saved per character.
  • Dungeon L2 has 16 new mining spots: 14 of rock and 2 of crystal.
  • Gold has a new icon in your bag, on the ground and in the Coin Shop.
  • The game picks lighter graphics automatically on graphics cards with little video memory.
  • The wiki has a Rules page, in all six languages.

Talents

  • Tank: step 1 gives +20 Vitality, up from 15. Step 2 gives +40% HP recovery, up from 30%. Stoneskin now cuts incoming Paralyze by 35% of its duration, 50% at 6 rebirths.
  • Fencing: Steel Dance hits all 3 targets for full damage, up from 90%.
  • Long Sword: Second Wind heals 50% of Max HP, up from 25%. Duelist's Rhythm is now a streak: each hit in a row on the same target adds +3% damage to the next, up to +15% (+20% at 6 rebirths). It resets when you switch target or go 5 seconds without landing a hit, and it replaces that branch's stances and its previous passive. Adaptive Guard keeps its stances, and in Defensive stance has a 10% chance to parry a melee hit and return half of it.
  • Hammer: the endurance cut drops from 0.35% to 0.10% of each piece per hit, and Demolisher's from 0.5% to 0.15%.
  • Holy: Sacred Bond's shield cap rises from 25% to 35% (40% at 6 rebirths). Accelerated Recovery rises from 15% to 25% cast recovery (30%). Divine Touch hits harder the less health its target has left: at level 140, from 280 on a full-health target up to 500 below 5% health. It ignores Holy's PvP magic damage penalty.
  • Blood: Transfusion heals twice as much as a Great Heal. Vital Balance grants +3% Health Siphon and Mana Siphon (+5% at 6 rebirths).
  • Lightning: Overcharge stacks last 12 seconds, up from 6, but one spell now adds only one stack per target. Lightning Bolt's damage dice are halved: the direct hit rolls 6 to 10 instead of 11 to 19, and each hit along the line 9 to 13 instead of 17 to 25.
  • Ice: every Blizzard has a 35% chance to launch a free Mass Chill Wind first, halfway along its path.
  • Earth: Aftershock pulses rise to 60% (65% and 80% in the branch), and the cracked ground remembers whether Safe Attack Mode was on when you cast it.
  • Fire: every tick of the talent's Burn staggers its target. On a player it interrupts the spell being cast.
  • Poison is now listed under Advanced instead of Mages. Tooltips state the weapon requirement once per tree.

Changed

  • Recall needs you to stand still. Outside your own town, the spell and the Recall Scroll only work after 10 seconds without taking a step, being hit or being paralyzed.
  • The Invisibility Scroll can't be read for 10 seconds after you take a hit. The Invisibility Potion is unchanged.
  • Hammers wear armor down far more slowly: 6 endurance per hit for the Battle Hammer and the Barbarian Hammer and 8 for the Giant Battle Hammer, down from 30 and 35. The +1 and +2 versions use the same values.
  • High-tier drops roll higher property levels again. Liche, Stalker, Darkelf, Mountain Giant, Ettin and Frost: 2 to 4, now 4 to 7. Demon, Unicorn and Gargoyle: 3 to 5, now 5 to 8. Dragon, Centaur, Giant Lizard, Master Mage Orc, Minotaur and Nizie: 2 to 6, now 5 to 8. Helclaw, Tiger Worm and Goblin Warlock: 2 to 6, now 6 to 8. Wyvern, Fire Wyvern, Abaddon and Sorcerer: 3 to 6, now 5 to 8. Weapons fished from the two most dangerous waters follow the same change. Low levels inside the band are still the common roll.
  • Shields roll Physical Absorption and Magic Absorption again. No shield lost its property: the 1.53.2 notes said otherwise, and they were wrong.
  • Mob Specialty now takes more kills the tougher the monster. Level 1 against a Slime takes 20 kills instead of 150, and against Abaddon 640 instead of 20, with every tier in between on a rising scale. Your kills are kept and your levels are recalculated: they go up against low-tier monsters and down against high-tier ones.
  • Eleven monsters changed element, so no spell element has an edge while levelling: Slime and Troll are now Ice, Snake, Clay Golem and Werewolf are Lightning, and Zombie, Helhound, Ogre, Direboar, Darkelf and Master Mage Orc are Fire.
  • The Pick Axe reaches full swing at 104 Strength, down from 130.
  • The Rebirth window asks for a second click before switching between Rebirth Mode and Normal Mode.

Fixed

  • A failed craft costs only the materials the recipe used, never the whole stack. Ware Purity now carries into the Magic jewel, and stacking Wares no longer shaves points off their Purity. Players who lost extra materials to this are getting them back by mail.
  • The window you open or click comes to the front, even over the Bag.
  • Item links in chat show the item's real upgrade level.
  • The Avg. Phys. Abs. row on the character sheet reflects the absorption you actually get per hit, weighted by where hits land.
  • Capes on female characters hang straight down the back in combat stance.
  • The Warehouse Keeper on Bleeding Island no longer shows up Berserked with a ghost image over him.
  • The web store no longer answers "Account not found" while you are still typing the name.
