My Liege · public · first seen
It has been a year and a half since My Liege launched and with this update it is time to call the game complete. I hope you enjoy the updates and am truly blessed by all of you that have been part of the My Liege journey with me.
On to the changes!
The plague mechanic was by far the weakest portion of the game in my opinion since launch and has been reworked. The penalties for making risky decisions should now hold the proper weight and the visuals help make the plague feel like the major story point that it was meant to be.
Sick meeples give off clouds of plague
Plague doctor added as an advisor to your player character
Choosing "quarantine" option includes a new area on the map that the sick will be gathered in
Impacts of having sick meeples greatly increased (aka, each meeple that is sick increases how much your food / money production is decreased by)
There were several places throughout the game where something impactful happened on the map and the player wasn't aware because they were distracted by something else (or simply unaware of the change!). These short cinematics should help keep the player involved.
New buildings have a short cinematic to show off they are complete
(Example: Windmill, stables, inn, etc.)
Arriving at the capital now has longer cinematic to pan over the city
Several major story points are now accompanied with a cinematic
(avoiding spoilers, it is a story game after all :)
On release, there were events where you could ask an optional question to an advisor to get additional details to help you make a decision. The problem was they really were only included in the prologue and were largely missing from the rest of the game.
Added questions throughout Acts 1 through 4
Increased the variety of questions you could ask
Based some of the questions off of player feedback to help ease confusion in certain points of the story
Increased the number of thoughts the meeples have. This is for those great players that see the thought bubbles and will not rest until they catch that meeple and find out what they are thinking!
Increased thoughts throughout entire game
Adjusted hitboxes to be a little easier to click on
Trees now have a wider and more colorful array of colors for springtime.
Burning buildings sprites and effects updated
Ambient audio noises louder and more varied
Several 3D models fixed to avoid meeples walking through walls
Michal Markave now has clothes (he was a story character with no loadout, if a meeple is going to be streaking, its because the player decided it so)
Armies and guards will have meeples that hold flags to help show which army is whose.
Investigation has a stronger and clearer warning that you are running out of time to investigate further leads.
Plague stat changes will no longer interrupt cinematics or take your attention away from the capital.
Capital city now has more activity to feel more alive
Markets and guards have more stationary meeples to man tables, stand watch, etc. Not everybody is running around at full speed all day
