v1.1.0.0 Update

On Steam

Thank you very much for always using Textvas.

New Features

・Linux and Steam Deck Support

It can now be used on Linux and Steam Deck.
※Steam Deck (SteamOS) is supported in Desktop Mode only.
Game Mode is not supported, as some features do not work correctly there due to compatibility issues.
To switch to Desktop Mode, press the STEAM button and select Power → Switch to Desktop. Since support for these platforms has only just been added, please let us know if you find any issues. It would also help if you could tell us which type of Linux you use.

・Open a Board in a New Window

We have added a feature that opens a board in a separate window when you drag a sidebar tab outside the window and release it.
While dragging, the tab changes into a window shape once it goes past the edge of the window. Dragging also starts if you simply move the tab sideways. A board opened in another window also remains in the original window. Whichever window you edit it in, the same content is shown in the other. If you press Ctrl+S in the other window, it is saved in the original window.

・Start Screen

When you launch Textvas without specifying anything, the Start Screen is now displayed.
New Project closes the Start Screen and starts from an empty board. Open File lets you choose a file to open. Recent Files lists the files you opened most recently, newest first.
We have added “Do not show the Start Screen” to System in Preferences. When turned on, the Start Screen will not be displayed from the next launch. If a startup file is set, the startup file takes priority.

・Guide Support Range

In Dialogue Trees, Node Graphs, and Flowcharts, you can now place all 4 types of guides with the same operations as on text boards. You can also place them from Add Asset in the right-click menu. Icons, images, tables, and print guides cannot be used on these boards, so they appear greyed out and cannot be pressed in the Asset window.

・Guide Headings

You can now add a heading to a guide. You can enter it from T on the action bar, F2, double-clicking the border line, or Rename in the right-click menu.

While typing, pressing T again lets you choose the position, and XS to XL lets you choose the size.

・Toolbar for Nodes, Memos, and Guides

When you select a node, memo, or guide, a toolbar now appears at the top left. Operations that were previously available only from the right-click menu can now be used with a single click. For memos and guides, you can change the color with ● and close a memo or delete a guide with ✕.

・Reordering Choices

In Dialogue Tree and Node Graph nodes, you can now change the order of choices by grabbing the mark to the left of a choice and moving it up or down. The connected lines follow along as they are.

・Reload

We have added Reload, which reopens the currently open file with its saved contents. You can use it from the menu or with F5.
The key can be changed in the Shortcuts section of Preferences.

・Importing by Drag and Drop

When you drag and drop text, image, RAW photo, or music files or folders onto the sidebar, a new board is now created and the files are imported into it. When you drag and drop onto a board, they are imported into the currently open board.
Since the destination can now be chosen by where you drop, the setting to import text files into the current board has been removed.

・Trash Can Icon

A trash can has been added to the icons that can be assigned to boards.

Improvements

・Changing Memo and Guide Colors

Since the color can now be changed with ● on the action bar that appears above a selected memo or guide, color selection has been removed from the right-click menu.

・Choosing Connector Colors

Choosing a connector color has been consolidated into a single button.

・Moving Connectors

In Dialogues and Node Graphs, dragging the dot of an exit that a line is connected to onto the dot of another exit now moves the line there. Previously, the line would come off and you had to draw it again.

・Pasting External Text

In all 3 node editors, pasting text copied from elsewhere with Ctrl+V now adds one node at the cursor position. In Dialogues and Node Graphs, the first line becomes the heading and the rest goes into the body. If there are no line breaks, only the heading is filled in, and any blank line between the heading and the body is removed.
In Flowcharts, a rectangle is added and the whole text goes inside it.

・Default Icons by Type

When you add a Dialogue, Node Graph, or Flowchart, an icon is now automatically attached next to the tab name. You can remove it with right-click → Icon → ×. The icons for these 3 types have also been redrawn larger.

・Open-Link Icon and Result Display

An icon indicating that it can be opened by double-clicking is now attached to the end of links to folders, URLs, and tabs.
The result of opening is shown in a notification, and when the linked folder or tab cannot be found, “Link target not found” is shown in a different color.

・Error Color for Notifications

Errors such as export failures and dropping unsupported files are now shown in a different color from normal notifications. The color follows the Sub Color setting.

・Startup Description

Some items have been added to the startup description.

・Easier Guide Grabbing

Even when zoomed out, you can now grab a guide by clicking slightly outside its line.

・Frame When Selecting Multiple in Flowcharts

Even when you select multiple items including guides in a Flowchart, the frame line thickness and the size and position of the corner marks now match those for a single selection.

・Bounding Box on Selection

On all boards, the marks and frame line that appear when you select something are now displayed at the same size whether you zoom in or out.

Bug Fixes

・Fixed an issue where duplicating a Dialogue Tree, Node Graph, or Flowchart board resulted in an empty board.

・Fixed an issue where some of the menus and settings were not translated.

・Fixed an issue where scrolling the mouse wheel did not scroll the inside of a memo containing long text.

・Fixed an issue where merely opening a board containing memos caused it to be treated as unsaved.

・Fixed an issue where part of the startup description was still from an older version.

・Fixed an issue where quickly opening and closing the sidebar repeatedly with the Tab key prevented it from returning to its original width.

・Fixed an issue where moving a board while zoomed out in a node editor left afterimages of frame lines and other elements.

We will continue to work on improving Textvas.
