This weekend was all about the way you interact with the speakeasy. Almost everything you touch behind the bar has been rebuilt on new foundations, with a big focus on multiplayer reliability.
Interactions
- Rebuilt interaction system. Every interactive object now uses the same rules, so prompts are consistent and reliable across the whole speakeasy.
- Alternative actions. Hold Alt to reveal secondary actions on objects (for example, taking a glass out of a crate instead of picking up the crate itself).
- Hold-to-confirm progress. Actions that need to be held now show a progress bar filling inside the action prompt.
- Smaller, cleaner action prompt.
- Target details panel fixed. The information panel about what you are looking at now opens and closes properly.
- No more double use. Two players can no longer use the same object at the same time (pouring, filling, the door peephole…).
Highlighting
- Outlines now only appear on objects you can actually do something with right now. Holding a glass? Other glasses stop lighting up — but a glass you can pour into still does.
- A subtle outline when you aim at an object from a distance, a stronger one once it is within reach.
- Placement spots get their own outline while you are setting something down.
- Fixed fixtures (wall tap, door) no longer get an outline: their prompt is enough.
Carrying & placing
- Picking up, carrying and placing objects has been rebuilt for multiplayer: actions feel instant for everyone, not just the host.
- Fixed glasses placed on a tray ending up in different positions for different players.
- Carrying the keg with its tap attached no longer blocks your movement.
- The keg tap now turns into a ghost together with the keg while you place it.
Bar & liquids
- Pouring and filling are more reliable in multiplayer.
- Fixed the wall tap not filling glasses and leaving its prompt stuck on screen.
- The keg tap works with the new system (screwing / unscrewing included).
- The trash can works with the new system.
Glass crate
- New: take glasses straight out of the crate with Alt + click. Click alone still picks up the whole crate.
- The crate shows "Empty" once its last glass is gone.
- Fixed glasses coming out of the crate the size of a thimble.
- Glasses still inside the crate no longer show through it while you place it.
Under the hood
- New dedicated systems for interactions, carrying/placement and item containers, replacing the old prototype logic.
- Containers are now data-driven: crates can be filled with fixed or randomised contents, paving the way for deliveries and searchable stashes.
Thanks to everyone who joined the playtest and reported bugs — keep them coming!
