If you can't tell I love pushing updates, adding things to the game and improving it. The Wave 2 launch has been the biggest boost to our player base since launch and we're keen to keep adding things.
This is why also if you do find bugs you need to let us know. I genuinely want to make Governance the political sim game out there.
You've asked and we've listened! We're fine tuning the Real Time gameplay to be less intrusive and more focused. There are still things we're finding along the way but we're all ears for how to improve it.
Updates to coalition formation window
Improvements to the Wiki system, including faction pages
Improved ultrawide display support
Fixes to various reported popup issues
Fixes to several large UI bugs and inconsistencies
Inspired by the Swedish political system (and a viral tweet we responded to), the hemicycle Parliament view now supports sorting parliamentarians by geography. We have two modes for this: sorting by region (Region mode) and sorting from the southernmost constituency to the northernmost (Geographic mode). Geographic mode is not as neat as Region mode, but both have their uses.
This also works for devolved legislatures, including Holyrood and the Senedd. London Assembly support will be coming soon!
We've also added an all new Factional View, that allows you to which factional grouping parliamentarians belong to.
This is something we've split hairs over: how do we classify parties and beliefs? As part of the game's belief simulation system, there is now an internal classification of beliefs against an ever-shifting left/right dynamic. We don't really like the left/right model in game, but it is acceptable shorthand for where political parties tend to be placed in the Westminster system. With that in mind, we have now added support for parties to labelled from left to right, with no bearing on the actual belief system itself. The Overton window dynamically moves with policy; what is at one point in game considered a fringe belief can become mainstream as play continues.
We've also tweaked the Wiki system to support political position labels, and for labels to shift over time too. Sometimes this can have rather funny results if you and your friends do a bit of entryism into another party.
Your beliefs are also weighed up against your party's proclaimed beliefs too.
We've also made some improvements to the popup UIs.
There are a few different eras of Governance UI currently in the system that we are looking to streamline massively, especially around our new button style. You should start to see this take shape in the next few updates.
It's a very small feature but it was a lot of fun to work. As part of another idea we've had for later, I've put together a few different election night logo variants. Each time you run an election you'll see one of a few different variant designs. Most of them change colour as the night progresses too, giving you another fun little indicator of how the night is going.
There's also special variants in use for Scottish and Welsh elections too. We're looking to add some more as we go! (And - eventually - of course I'll be looking at Workshop support for people who want to design their own election night UIs)
