Hoverslam Playtest · public · first seen
This update introduces the first iteration of the level creator. In your main menu there is now a "CREATE" button, and in the Play screen there is now a "HUB" tab.
You can now build your own levels, publish them, and race everyone else's. A published level is frozen the moment it goes up and gets its own permanent leaderboard, so times on it stay comparable forever.
Level Creator
CREATE on the main menu opens the editor.
• Paint and erase terrain with an adjustable brush, on an unlimited canvas.
• Place the start pad, the landing pad and fuel pickups.
• GENERATE rolls a random cave to carve from, with sliders for its shape. CLEAR empties the canvas.
• Undo and redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y). A note at the bottom of the screen names the last thing you did, so you always know what undo will take back.
• Appearance: wall material, edge colour and background
• GRID toggles the cell grid; LEVEL CHECK tells you whether the level is actually flyable before you commit to it.
• TEST FLIGHT drops you straight into your draft and back to the editor afterwards. Nothing from a test flight is scored.
• SAVE keeps a level on your machine, and MY LEVELS lists everything you have saved so you can load, keep editing, or delete.
Publishing and the HUB
PUBLISH sends a level to everyone. Publishing is permanent, a published level can never be edited, because every time on its board was set on exactly that cave. Want to change something? Publish the revision as a new level; it gets its own board, and the original keeps its times.
Each published level gets a short share code shown on its tile, and its own leaderboard that never resets.
