Hey, Remnants!
I’m extremely excited to share all I’ve been working on lately! This is without a doubt the biggest update to the world of OKUBI. A lot of new features and systems have been added, bringing a whole new layer of quality of life, progression, customization, strategy, and player identity to the game.
DISCLAIMER: There's a lot of things to cover so bear with me I'll try to keep it brief in this post and write a comprehensive patch note with more details.
First things first...
Designed to let you shape your gear around your own playstyle, the Upgrade System is all about creating specialized builds through a wide variety of Augment options. Tank? Glass cannon? Bruiser? Support? Build the way you want, experiment with different setups, and easily switch out Augments to adapt your gear before jumping into the next fight.
The Imbue System is a solid addition to OKUBI, bringing a whole new layer of power and strategy to the game. Simply select a Prime item — either crafted or earned through various reward sources — and bind it to any weapon of your choice. Once imbued, your weapon will emanate an intense new glow and unleash powerful effects such as temporary buffs, spell boosters, additional attacks, or devastating combat triggers that can completely change how a weapon feels in battle. This system is all about turning your weapon into an extension of your Elemental Attunement.
The UI is still a WIP but already gives a good idea of the direction I'm going for here.
The Public Hub is also getting renovated. With the addition of the Upgrade and Imbue Systems, there's been a couple of changes in the city layout. I've placed the new Upgrade Station, moved installations around and prepared the landscape for the upcoming VIP BAR.
I am very proud of this one! Crafting is an essential part of the progression in the world of OKUBI. Until now, it felt kinda underwhelming and pretty much useless. Lack of reagent, comprehensive rewards and the crafting panel itself was unattractive. So I took the time to rebuild not only the panel but the content of items in its entirety!
Arenas now also give powerful rewards in the form of chests, reagents or even complete gear pieces. So you’ll be able to craft elevated equipment through a comprehensive selection of items.
Matchmaking has been completely reworked and optimized to reduce queue time, eliminate false queues and really elevate the quality of life. Plus, I've updated the server deployment system of Public Hubs around the world. The system should give not only better ping but should allow everyone to connect without any server issues.
Character Creation is now a thing in OKUBI. The UI is NOT fully finished yet, but it is currently implemented and already allows you to switch between various customizable settings. You can now choose your favorite hairstyles and horns as I work toward adding various faces options and body styles. This is an important first step toward giving you more control over your identity and style.
Plus, I've also designed the First Official Character and hired 3D modelists that are currently working on it!!! You will be able to choose through a variety of arm corruptions. For now, the armor is simple as I continue building more armor options for the future.
